Pondok Cina Station (POC) or also known as Pocin Station, is a class II railway station located in Pondok Cina Village, Beji District, Depok City. The station, often called Pocin Station, only serves Commuter Line KRL routes.

The commuter line is the Bogor Commuter Line, which goes to Jakarta City, Depok, Bogor, and parts of Nambo. The existence of this station is quite important because of its strategic location and proximity to renowned universities, namely the University of Indonesia and Gunadarma University.

Unique Facts About Pondok Cina Station

1. Became a Transit Area during the Colonial Era

In colonial times, Pondok Cina became a transit point for traders before coming to Batavia. The traders were mostly of Chinese descent and filled the market to sell garden produce. During the colonial era, a Dutch landlord, the developer of Depok, provided the market.

The traders were initially not allowed to settle around the market and had to leave Depok after selling. However, due to the distance, the Chinese traders eventually settled in Bojong Village, which is now known as Pondok Cina.

2. Burned and Recovered

Pondok Cina Station, as it looks now, is the result of renovations because it experienced a fire on July 31, 2010. Its location far from water sources made it difficult to extinguish the fire, and the Fire Department only arrived about 40 minutes later.
