Tambun Station is a Class III railway station located in Mekarsari, South Tambun, Bekasi. Despite being a lower-class station, it holds significance as it is situated between several East Bekasi and Cibitung stations. 

Since its opening in 1898, the station has undergone various changes to reflect its new face. It was rebuilt in 2014 and subsequently electrified in 2017. Currently, Tambun Station is only operational to serve the KRL Commuter Line, featuring four railway tracks and four platforms. 

Like other stations, Tambun Station also provides essential facilities to assist passengers in meeting their needs. This includes a waiting area and clean toilets, allowing passengers to wait for arrivals comfortably.

Preserving Independence History

The original station building has been open since 1898 and is closely related to Gedung Juang Tambun. This building played a crucial role during the independence era as a location for negotiations in the exchange of war prisoners. The process involved Indonesian independence fighters captured and returned through Bekasi, and Dutch prisoners in Indonesia being sent back to the Netherlands, transported by train through Tambun Station.

Current Tambun Station is the Second Building

The station used during the struggle for independence was actually an old building that is no longer in use as a station. This station has now been replaced by a new building with modern minimalist architecture, similar to the Dwiganda Manggarai - Cikarang line. Despite becoming a historical witness, the old building of Tambun Station has been demolished for construction and renovation. Nevertheless, its role in the history of how Indonesian independence fighters who were captured could return remains recorded.

KRL Commuter Line at Tambun Station operates from as early as 00:07 to the last train at 22:54. Each KRL number takes passengers to their destinations, passing through various transit routes such as Cibitung, Cikarang, Kampung Bandan, and others.
