Tangerang Station is a large class C railway station at Sukarasa, Tangerang. This station is crowded enough even though it currently only serves the Commuter Line, which is different from the past when freight trains were available.
The location is easy to find because it is on the westernmost side of the Tangerang-Duri railway. The Tangerang Station is between Tanah Tinggi Station (towards Duri) and Terminus Station.
Four railway lines feed this station. On the right line four, there is a sub-depot commuter line to store the facilities. The facilities that can be used for the passengers are complete enough as a typical railway station.
Access to Tangerang Station is also easy because potential passengers can choose any type of public transport. And if you want to go to the city, you can take city and district transport in Tangerang.
Through some routes, the Commuter Lines in Tangerang Station will accompany its passengers to Duri Station. The commuter line will pass through 11 stations. They are Tangerang Station, Tanah Tinggi Station, Batu Ceper Station, Poris Station, Kalideres Station, Rawa Buaya Station, Bojong Indah Station, Taman Kota Station, Pesing Station, Grogol Station and the last is Duri Station.

The location of Tangerang Station could be more striking because the front part is crowded with public and personal transportation. The construction is also unintentional, as it was initially only going to build a line across the west of Batavia to Anyer.
Then, the Netherland Railway company – Staatsspoorwegen (SS) – continued the intersection line construction from Duri to Tangerang. The supplementary line along 19 km was formalized on 2 January 1899 and followed by some stations or another bus stop.
At first, Tangerang Station was not only used as a passenger boarding and alighting place but also their things. Various items, such as agricultural products, had been crossing this station because the location was in the Residence of Batavia. The Chinese controlled the land and planted rice, cassava, and others.
Besides that, there were handcrafts from domestic work or small industries. One of the most worked on was a bamboo hat, also known as Topi Tangerang (Tangerang Hat)
Topi Tangerang was popular in 1913 and reached more than 5 million productions within 26 cents for each. The models and materials are unique, which is why the Chinese and Europeans bought the product through Tanjung Priok Harbour.
The independence of Indonesia, declared on 17th August 1945, did not necessarily allow people to live peacefully. The security in several areas, including Tangerang, was unstable enough because of Japanese troops and threats from Sekutu.
When the Sekutu entered Indonesia to regain, the battle could not be avoided and had destroyed every facility and infrastructure there. Railways, money orders, and signaling tools in the station had broken, and the connection to Jakarta-Tangerang was cut off.
After recognizing Dutch sovereignty in 1949, the government started to repair and rehabilitate the broken facilities, including the railway. DKA (KAI, today) started fixing, and in 1954, DKA decided to classify stations.
