Serang Station

Information About Serang Station

Serang Station is a crucial transportation hub that connects nearby cities. This station is essential for travelers due to its contemporary facilities and local train services. The Staatsspoorwegen railway established it on July 1, 1900, along with the 34 km Rangkasbitung-Serang line. Previously, in 1899, the Staatsspoorwegen constructed the Batavia-Duri-Tangerang and Duri-Rangkasbitung lines.

Traveling to Serang Station is relatively convenient because it is located in the heart of Serang City. It is accessible by various types of transportation, including taxis, motorcycle taxis (ojek), or private vehicles. The station is located on Stasiun Street, making it accessible from numerous spots within the city center.

Serang Station not only makes traveling there more convenient, but it also provides various options for continuing the journey. Several public transportation alternatives, including 'angkot' (public minivans) and buses, are available in front of the station, making it easy for visitors to get around the city.

Serang Station provides intercity transportation choices for travelers seeking to continue their journey to other destinations. Passengers can travel to destinations such as Merak, Krenceng, Cilegon, and Rangkasbitung in comfort and efficiency thanks to scheduled local train services.

Serang Station (SG) is a Class I railway station. This station has unique features. Despite its small size, the station features full services such as ticket counters, waiting rooms, and restrooms. There is also a dining space where travelers can eat before or after their journey.

Train Schedules and Routes at Serang Station

This station initially served long-distance routes taken by the Kalimaya Train, the Patas Merak, and the Krakatau. However, long-distance travel has been unavailable since April 2017, when the Kalimaya and Patas Merak trains discontinued service.

The Kalimaya Train previously provided a round-trip service between Tanah Abang and Merak, while the Patas Merak connected Rangkasbitung and Merak. These services were replaced by the KRL Commuter Line Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung when they were discontinued."

This alteration affected not only long-distance trains, but also the Merak Local Train, which had its route shortened from Tanah Abang-Merak to Rangkasbitung-Merak.

Another alteration was the change from the Krakatau Train to the Singasari Train. Its route from Merak-Blitar to Pasar Senen-Blitar was also shortened. Even though Serang Station no longer serves long-distance journeys, it remains an essential station in railway services, particularly for local and neighboring region travelers.

Ticket prices for train trips between Serang and Rangkasbitung vary depending on class. As an example, consider the following ticket prices:

• Economy Class: Tickets start at Rp 12,000

• Business Class: Tickets start at Rp 25,000.

• Executive Class: Tickets start at Rp 40,000.

Meanwhile, a ticket to Merak by local train costs Rp 3,000. Passengers can choose a class based on their needs and preferences using this range.
