On arrival noticed air con not working in room spoke with Sophie on reception who said that she would get maintenance to come and sort it out. Reminded about an hour later “yes, all in hand” Went out for the evening, came back and you guessed it, not been sorted, boiling hot and not helped by being on the top floor. Building is tired, bar staff in garden serve you like they are doing you a favour. Breakfast is good and staff in there really helpful.

Wanted to have a drink on balcony overlooking weir unable to do so as we were not booked into restaurant.Very disappointed as the restaurant was empty staff unable to resolve issue.Hotel was shabby and not of the standard I would expect for a 4 Star Hotel .Room was not air conditioned and smelt of damp in need of a update.

Beautiful location with stunning views and it is lovely to sit in the garden by the river, but the hotel itself is shabby. We had a lukewarm welcome from reception, service was very slow - although the staff were pleasant and polite. Our room overlooked the river but was in need of refurbishment. Drinks were overly expensive - felt ripped off. Food was mainly ok - good breakfast - but I did not enjoy my tiny tasteless shepherds pie at evening meal. Probably wouldn't recommend or return to this hotel again.

No phone in the room and no left had to take stairs to our room which was quite far from the reception

Offered upgrade to suite with either river or weir views and ended up near the bridge overlooking the entrance. That said the suite was lovely although 2 of the TV's werent working, a cupboard door was broken and there was insufficient toilet roll. tea/coffee selection was poor and what there was, was insufficient. If iy wasnt for the location which is amazing and the local town, the hotel would score badly.

Hotel rooms well below standard for price

Do not stay in this hotel..it is unclean from stained carpets missing tiles in shower etc etc etc

We love this place but it is getting tired. The maintenance is in need of an uplift and the rooms and lounge areas need a refit. Still a lovely stay and Sindhu was excellent for lunch. The reception staff for the hotel were OK but lacked motivation to welcome their guests with any enthusiasm. Breakfast was excellent and the setting for the hotel sets this apart from most.

We were notified that the suite was unavailable due to a maintenance issue. We were downgraded but there was no offer of a refund of the price difference let alone any compensation for spoiling our anniversary. I had been in touch with the hotel to request a particular room with a view of the church across the Thames. I was assured that the suite I had booked had this view but it transpired it actually looked onto a courtyard. It took 3 emails to get an answer that was wrong. We were given a piece of cake for our anniversary instead of the individual shortbread biscuits we got the second night. I have never seen such small bottles of shampoo etc. On the first morning there was no hot water as the boiler had broken. There is obviously a problem with maintenance here. The shabby room looks grubby and desperately needs a lick of paint - more carefully applied than last time. The plus points - the view (although we didn't get the church); the staff at breakfast; and Sindhu, Atul Kochar's wonderful Indian restaurant

Needs a little tlc. Lovely position on the river Choice of restaurants was nice . Attentive staff.

Hugely disappointing hotel…understaffed, tired, shabby and dirty. Manager not contactable and didn’t return calls. Stay somewhere else, this is not the Compleat Angler that it was.

Fabulous location, just a bit tired as a property

The accessible room is not suitable for a disabled person in a wheelchair- just a few tweaks to the bathroom would make such a difference eg a raised toilet with drop down bars and a walk in shower.

Another great stay at the Compleat Angler. The Windor Suite is exquisite and always our choice.

The restaurant was really nice for dinner and the view is great. The carpet in the room had a ton of stains, they never came to service the room. We ordered the room service breakfast and it was terrible. Eggs not cooked, coffee press didn’t have a filter so the coffee granules were in the coffee. One slice of bacon for two people and very expensive.

Excellent clean room and excellent check in. Helpful staff, good parking and good location.

The breakfast was lovely, sat overlooking the river, service was polite and prompt. The room we had overlooked the weir and was spaceous. It was clean except for a glass
