Our one night stay at the Compleat Angler was lovely. While the building and room could do with a bit of an update, the overall experience was lovely. The staff were friendly; the room was spacious with a very comfy bed; and the amenities were excellent.

Welcoming reception . Pleasant staff. Beautiful room . Luke warm rather than hot water bath . Very slow service for food - one salad sent back . Enjoyed our stay but can see the hotel might need some tlc soon. Beautifully clean though.

Room was really nice and staff were friendly. When we arrived for breakfast a half an hour before last orders there was no bread or pastries left. Half of the cooked breakfast was missing with no explanation and then we discovered that the food was cold but all of the waiters had disappeared so could not complain. I expected more tbh.

Our suite wasn’t the one we had booked, otherwise everything was as expected - a good place to stay whenever you are in Marlow

Lovely room though very disappointed to learn that upon booking two nights that my room was not made up adequately, waters not replaced, bathroom not cleaned and bins not emptied. To add insult to injury, my 2nd night was more expensive. Unless I get some kind of positive response, I will almost certainly go public on social media with my findings.

The rooms are tired and could do with a refresh and a lick of paint. Likewise with the bathroom /fittings. No facilities in room to make a cup of tea; just a coffee machine with unidentified coffee pods. Towels were hard could do with fluffing up. Has to pay extra for a speciality coffee at breakfast which is a bit naughty. For what we paid for two nights, somewhat disappointed. We’ve stayed in better for less. If it weren’t for this hotel’s location, I think it would struggle. On the plus side, the staff were friendly, there’s ample parking and its a stones throw into Marlow!

Goods - room was lovely - comfy bed, clean and tidy. Bads - food was good in parts, but quite bad in parts too (our Milanese chicken was quite tough, and our breakfast was average at best [poached egg tasted of vinegar, beans were watery etc]). We opted to eat somewhere in Marlow for the second evening. We had booked two nights in separate bookings (one on work, one leisure), but after a short time in reception, they were able to put us in the same room for both nights (we had to upgrade, but that was understandable). BUT, at around 12pm on day two, one of the staff knocked and burst into the room while my wife was sleeping, and told her off for checking out too late?! When challenged, he was quite defensive, then a little apologetic. Being honest, it seemed the hotel was struggling to hold things together. We'd wanted to visit this hotel for quite some time, but we won't be going back.

The room was great but I’m afraid the hotel has had its day. It’s looking a bit tired and worn and it’s not worth the money compared to other newer places. The restaurant is overpriced and was not great quality, so give that a miss. Still it is a great location but it all just felt a bit lacklustre and in need of some TLC.

Really disappointing. First room offered the balcony doors didn’t even shut properly let alone lock. Second room better. All rooms look tired. Tap in bathroom needed a new washer and had been turned so tight I couldn’t undo it.

Room was run-down and extremely hot even after turning thermostat down. Bathroom taps worked the wrong way round.

Room was lovely wth a balcony overlooking the river & church. When we first arrived to check in we were a bit too early, and the receptionist was unfriendly

The revue says free breakfast - it was NOT!! The hotel is in a ideal position to walk into Marlow town which has lots of different shops on the High Street. Our room was very quiet. Bathroom underfloor heating was good. Parking free for residents.
