The swimming pool is out of order at the moment. was not notified of this when booking only a couple of days before I arrived. I was allocated room 56. Make sure you don’t get this room unless there is a heatwave. It was so cold that I had to ask to be moved during the night. The radiator does not appear to work in the room. I stayed for 3 nights, two of which had road closures outside the hotel . On the Sunday the road was closed from 7 am to 1 pm so could not leave unless you walked - and this hotel is some way out of the centre of Chester. Again I was not notified when booking. Staff ( other than the night porter and staff at breakfast) seemed entirely disinterested. No one actually apologised. I was offered another stay in the future, free of charge, but quite frankly I have no intention of ever returning

The hotel was clean and well-presented, but we only found out on arrival that the pool would be unavailable for the whole of our stay. All we received was a voucher for one free drink. The room was clean, but there were stains on the floor and wallpaper was peeling. The bathroom was clean and tidy with a really good shower and good sized bath, however the water pressure meant it would have taken an hour to fill the bath. Overall we had a lovely stay but the quality wasn't great. There was a very good buffet breakfast which we enjoyed and would recommend.

Arrived at the hotel to be told the Spa was closed with no contact from hotel beforehand. Had to battle for 45 mins to get a partial refund. A huge waste of time, very frustrating and will never return there again!

The hotel was clean and an okay stay. Very dated property. The food is very expensive for what you get.

Nice place. Pool was a bit cold, but you could swim in it fine. There was no standard plug next to the bed (just a weird old fashioned non standard 3 pin plug for the lamp) so I couldn't plug in the CPAP machine I need. We asked reception for an extension and they didn't have any, so we had to go out and buy one. Otherwise the pace was good.

Friendly staff and lovely ‘character’ hotel room. Next time we’ll try the spa which looked lovely too.

This hotel is ok, but the restaurant is appalling. Severe lack of staff and attention to diners, we watched two couples up and leave after being sat with no service for almost 45minutes. The food is vastly overpriced versus quality combined with the lack of staff attention, we were only offered a drinks order once and provided with one small jug of table water. Spa facilities are ok, sauna is tiny but ok, pool area is nice

Staff were lovely and building looked impressive, set in nice grounds and the food was good in the bar area. However inside the room was a bit tired and decoration shabby. The room was very hot with no air com (just a table fan) and safety limits on the windows meant you could only open them an inch. There was no fridge in the room for keeping things cool either. Also the shower tray didn't drain proprerly so you ended up standing in water that I was worried would spill over and the floorboards in the room upstairs were very loud and creaky which was a bit annoying. Overall it was a lovely stay just a few little things that stopped it getting 5 stars.

Here’s a polished, firm but fair review you can use (keeps your key points but strengthens the impact): I stayed at Crabwall Manor Hotel & Spa (room 50) and unfortunately had a very poor experience. I was not informed at the time of booking that a wedding would be taking place. I have no issue with events being held, but the noise continued until around 1am and made it impossible to get any sleep. When I raised this with staff, I was simply told “there’s nothing we can do as it’s a wedding.” No attempt was made to offer a solution, such as moving rooms or finding any compromise, which was very disappointing. In my view, this falls short of the standard expected under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, as the service was not provided with reasonable care and consideration for guests. The following morning, the reception staff were equally disappointing—dismissive and lacking any real acknowledgement of the issue. A more professional and empathetic response would have gone a long way. To add to this, the breakfast was poor. The quality of the food felt cheap, and the presentation and appearance of staff did not inspire confidence in hygiene standards. For a stay costing over £100, I expected a much higher standard across the board.

Excelled as always. Everything about Crabwall Manor is the best. Fantastic grounds, stunning rooms and attentive staff from the reception to the bar staff to housekeeping. Warm welcome on checking in at reception, passed the keys to room 47 and although it doesn’t really have a ‘view’ the enclosed courtyard was nicely presented. The room was vast with enough space to provide the 2 high back chairs without feeling crowded. Bathroom was huge……(only wish was it had a freestanding bath!!!!) and again nicely decorated. Had drinks and evening meal in the bar, food was as great as was the staff who couldn’t do enough. Peaceful nights sleep with little to no noise from surrounding rooms. 4th visit now and I’m feeling that will soon increase given just how great every stay has become.

We stayed in a master suite for one night. Overall, the room was nice and we were happy with this. However, in the morning we noticed the shower was broken, so we could not change the temperature and it was stuck on boiling. We let reception know who didn’t seem too bothered as we were leaving. The pool area was tired and there was a large amount of grit gathering in the corners of it which was off putting. The toilet area in the changing rooms was also extremely unhygienic. We decided to stay in the hotel for the evening as it was advertised as having two bars, one of which shut at 11, the other shut at 12. We went down at 9:15 to one being closed already and the other shut at 10:15. We would have gone out if we had have known they don’t stay open until advertised times. Finally, the floorboards above us wouldn’t stop creaking, so we were up from 6:30. Would make sure to pack some earplugs, I understand it is an older building but as a deep sleeper, wasn’t expecting to be woken up. Overall hotel looks lovely and the room was pleasant however a couple of things were disappointing.

This was a last minute overnight stop. Bar meal was fine and breakfast was the usual buffet style which was regularly replenished. All staff were friendly and courteous. Plenty of parking. Finding the room and navigating around the old building can be a bit of maze. Room was, clean and well equipped with a refreshing shower in the morning.

The receptionist was lovely, polite. We checked in ok. The room numbering had us confused. Our party had 2 rooms, both very spacious, but both very cold. The towel rail in one room didn't work. The central heating radiator in both bedrooms didn't work but there was an electric heating panel that eventually warmed up the large bedroom. The hotel generally appears dated. Dirty stains around the door handles and door plates. The dining room on the Sunday night was cold, but much warmer at breakfast on Monday morning. The bar area and adjoining lounge were cold and poorly
