Hotel was small but our room was great. No AC but not unexpected. Was there on supposedly record setting heat day but there was a fan in the room so wasn't unbearable. In downtown old town so a lot within walking distance. Was there for a cruise and it was walkable to the cruise port (about 1 mile).

I liked that it was close to shopping and restaurants. Reasonably priced, roo Was a little hot but not too uncomfortable. I'd stay there again when in Southampton

Very helpful and pleasant staff, the room had two double beds and a walk in shower. The breakfast was basic but served well. All in all, a very good stay and I would be definitely going to return.

We entered our room in the third floor, to be met by a wall of heat. There was only an electric fan to move the air. Went in the shower room a there’s a window in there overlooking a hallway where everyone could walk past and look in. There was a net curtain and a thin curtain to save your dignity. Not impressed. The carpets in the corridors weren’t the best either.

Central location, many dining and shopping options within walking distance. Some steps are unavoidable. Low water pressure on upper floors. Large room with comfortable beds.

Paintwork dirty, carpet poorly hoovered, cracked and poorly fitting windows allowing the wind in. cracked broken mirror, I didn't have breakfast but had to walk through the breakfast room to get to reception, it look dried out under the lamps. Bar was poorly stocked. Bathroom had one tap on the wash basin that was that loose when you tried turn it off it went through over 180, the other wasn't the same as the hot. WC not fixed to floor. A school report would say must try harder and put in greater effort.

This is an older property with lots of character. Located near the downtown area, there are lots of dining choices within walking distance. There could be some work done in the interior to make it more appealing but the room was clean, comfortable and, even though we faced the main street, quiet. Breakfast was quite nice with a very good selection. Staff was very friendly.

We liked best the central location in High Street. So easy to walk to the shopping centres and restaurants/ bakeries all close by. Also easy to walk to the Tudor House, an attraction that I enjoyed visiting. It's value for money. The elevator (lift) is old-style, so be prepared that it can take at most 2 big luggages and one person. Thank you Beatrix, you have been so helpful in giving me directions, and in calling our taxi for our ride to nearby Southampton cruise terminal. CCTV provided a real sense of security. Thank you Adi (the fellow) who put our luggages safely tucked away whilst our room was still not ready in the morning.

Awesome historical property with an awesome location. Everything you want or need is very closeby. Best possible rating considering the age of the building.

Older hotel, noisy floors, one of the beds was too noisy to sleep in. No AC pretty warm during the night. Front desk was great and the adjacent bar great bar staff very friendly.

Ideal hotel for a pre-cruise stay. A very old hotel with lots of little stairways, could do with a little bit of tlc but good location, clean, staff are lovely and breakfast was really good

Great location for Guild Hall. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. It was a Friday and very noisy at night, probably ask for a room at rear next time.

Needed clean cheap room. Room clean, bed clean, end suite clean shower toilet sink. On surface all OK. But shower no hot water. Noise over night behind room in car park and occasionally in next room. Female partner checked in 6 hours before me and was asked for £25 deposit against damage. It was redicilous as this Hotel is in need of renovation. The breakfast was charged at different rate than advertise on Hotel.com however chose to have elsewhere but walking through empty breakfast room was impressed with fresh spread of usual English items. It's a shame this hotel does not have welcoming feel to it. With renovation to some parts a more welcoming attitude this hotel could be a cheaper alternative and would be successful. The female staff were courteous the male staff seemed to be indifferent. I won't be booking again have decided to hire car as I normally do. I wish them success.

Missed the ice bucket, Kleenex and mini fridge in room. Loved the decor And character of the hotel. Great location although I don’t think I would be comfortable going out at night alone. Wonderful friendly staff.

Although we were shocked by the poor physical condition of our room (windows that were painted shut, yucky feeling carpet, and extremely low water pressure), the staff did comply with our request for a room on the top floor, which was large, private, and very quiet. Breakfast was excellent.

Hotel is in great location for cruise terminals but some are the rooms are quite a treck with heavy suitcases so not easy access may be ok for youngsters
