All of the staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and a good size. The breakfast was tasty and had a good variety of items in their buffet. The location of the hotel is perfect, being only a block away from Barsgate and central to everything in Southampton. We would definitely stay here agsin!

Great central location and helpful staff. It's quite a tired looking hotel but still clean n tidy. My room was a single but a double comfy bed and nice bathroom. Breakfast was good value and very well done. No complaints.

Parking was good but you need to be early to het parked. Can be tight depending on vehicle size. We had room on high street which was very noisey so not best. Room its self was spacious and bathroom huge. Tv didnt work which was disappointing as all i wanted to do after our journey and meal was watch tv in bed. Would I stay again yes

We came back to The Star as we stayed here 18 months ago. You simply can’t beat their location. Pubs, restaurants, shopping, old Southampton and its heritage building. And the history of the Titanic.

The hotel is old (but interesting) and needs a lick of paint here and there but the room was very clean. Bathroom with shower very good. Very nice double bed too. Breakfast was buffet style, was good though no fruit. No problem with Wi-Fi. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Excellent location for eateries and seeing old Southampton. Good value and would stay there again.

Very convenient location with on-site parking for £7 which I thought was good value. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was perfect for what we needed. It’s an old building so the floorboards creak a bit but it was a warm room with hot water and clean towels. We were at the front of the building so could hear street noise, it didn’t bother us but if you want a quiet room ask for one at the back of the hotel. Breakfast was tasty with plenty of choice. Only downfall was the mattress sunk on the left. We mentioned it to reception on our departure otherwise a very pleasant stay and we will definitely return.

The initial greeting was not welcoming as the receptionist was focussing on his computer instead of greeting us as guests He also never said good morning or greeted us when we went in or out However, Michael who did the breakfast was completely different and he was more than welcoming and helpful and the breakfast was amazing and he is a great ambassador for the hotel. The whole ambience of the hotel was tasteful seeing as it was an old building that had been updated in as very tasteful and respectful manner with seating areas and old paintings and tasteful furniture on every level. The price for the stay was way below what I expected and more than good value for money This hotel also is sited in the middle of the shopping complexes and could not be better located If you want a cheap but really good hotel in Southampton, then this is the place - highly recommended by myself and my colleague so well done Star Hotel

Our 2-night stay at the Star Hotel was very comfortable. The staff was hospitable and friendly. Our room was clean and spacious. We slept well and enjoyed a nice breakfast each morning and had a relaxing time in the bar each night. The desk staff and the lady bartender was very nice. It was a real treat.

The hotel is clean and friendly although the reasonable price is reflected in the fact that it is stuck in the 1980s, with poor wardrobes and rough shower room finishes. It was perfect for a quick overnight stay and is very centrally situated.
