Sandos Playacar All Inclusive

The property is beautiful and the bunks were a hit with my kids but there is no room service, the food is so far from the family hotel rooms and requires a tram ride to get there. The tram stops are so crowded that you need to wait two times before you can get on. They don’t let you take food out of the buffet to eat in your room or by the pool so my toddler, who usually eats while she plays, did not like that she couldn’t take her fruit with her to the pool. Because the tram situation was so annoying, we would almost miss breakfast, which ends at 10:30am. The exclusivity of their elite areas absolutely sucked and the reservations for the restaurants were ridiculous. The restaurants looked empty but there were no reservations available. The entertainment team was great but because there were no microphones or megaphones, we would miss the activity by the pool. The night entertainment was great and the waitresses were nice. I wish their Mexican fast casual restaurant was a true Mexican restaurant but instead it’s like chipotle. Went to Mexico to have American food, sad. Will not return.

I love this resort. Ive been there several times now and always look forward to returning. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The property is enormous and it must be a tremendous undertaking to keep up with the landscaping and maintenance, but it is always clean and the well maintained. The buildings appear to be showing some age but they are undergoing renovations. The beach is absolutely stunning. Time on the beach alone is worth the trip. My only "complaint" if it can be said to be one, is the food at the a la carte restaurants is me. Service is good, but each time I find I would have preferred to go to the buffet. I cannot wait to return.

This was our first time there and was not greeted by anyone. Staff was not smiling or asking if we need anything. Nobody talks to you when you are in the lobby even though there was staff everywhere. The family resort area, the pool closes too early. The children's pool closes at 6 PM when it's still nice and bright and hot and also the adult pool closes at 8 PM. When you're on vacation, all you want to do is swim so that's kind of ridiculous that they close the pool down so early when it's still daytime. The beach and all the restaurants were so far that you have to take a shuttle to get to each destination including breakfast, lunch and dinner and anywhere you want to go. There was nothing to do at the resort other than music at night. Once the pool closes down then all you gotta do is go back to your room and sit and do nothing. Also, we went there as a family and we all got split into three different rooms in three different sections so we couldn't even be together next to each other. The good things were the room was cleaned very well when we came back to our room and restocked with drinks and towels. Our room was right by the pool so very convenient for us to get to the pool and come back. The waiters and waitresses at the restaurant was a lot nicer and smiling than in the lobby staff. The beach was OK but so much seaweed and smell bad we didn't want to be there. I would give it a 4 out of 10 and also I probably would not go back to that resort.

The property was average.

Sandos is not a bad resort. Just has some really weird things that need to be worked out. First off the resort is huge and the shuttle around the resort is not the greatest.. second you can’t ever make reservations at any of the restaurants because they’re always all taken, but if you show up at the restaurant, there’s plenty of tables. People are making the reservations and not showing up well there’s no way to know that. Food was ok nothing special. Entertainment staff was good

Nice hotel but 1 hour away from airport, something to think anout

A nice week of relaxing! Beautiful resort. A large property! Be prepared to walk!

I'll start with the good. It's in a great location, has plenty of food options and serves good drinks. Coffee shop was great to have, so was the "Chipotle Like" restaurant. I wasn't a fan of the service, the RE only options and the specialty restaurants. The beachside buffet was terrible (but only had it once on the first day) and the French restaurant was poor as well. The Mexican restaurant was good. I didn't get a chance to try the others because the booking process was so poor (very little availability or no availability). It is a very large resort, so you have to walk a lot! I didn't mind that, but for some people it will be a deterrent (I logged over 15,000 steps each day and that was not from exercising). Overall it's not a bad option, I just think there are better ones in this area.

This was our second stay at Sandos, probably our last unless things improve some. The employees are amazing first off. They work so hard and everyone always has a great attitude. The property itself is really getting run down and needs some work. Several of the restaurants were closed probably because the resort was almost empty. And I normally don’t ever use the room service but it was supposed to be included and one day I had a really nasty stomach and would have liked to use it. Of course the seaweed was awful which is no fault of the hotel they worked tirelessly trying to keep it clean but it was just impossible with the amount they came in daily. I also know there were a few people at the adult pool who were pretty irritated at the activities staff on a day or two. It seemed like there were locals who may have been friends of the staff who had come to the adult pool area and during the activities for those days the staff really was only paying attention to their friends and leaving others out. To the point that a few of the vacationers were actually yelling “are you going to include us” or “let us play” etc. hopefully mgmt can get that handled.

Our first all inclusive resort we have ever been to. It was amazing! Food was delicious. The pool and bar were exceptional. The staff were helpful and were always attentive.

Beautiful beach and resort. Everyone was super polite and helpful. Resort is huge and definitely not enough trolleys. From the family rooms to the beach is a long walk also a long walk to the buffet. Teen club is a joke literally nothing in there, the pictures made it look really nice and big but it's super small. Glad we went once but we will not be going back. Too many other resorts fit us so much better

Good food

I was able to use room service the first night, but then was told that they are no longer offering it. Also, too many bugs. I had bites all over me, very unpleasant. They badgered me to try and get an elite membership, that took away from my experience!

Could use different shows, its been the same ones for years

If you want to vacation on a budget, this is the place. However, despite this place being semi-affordable, I do think it was still overpriced for what you get. The best part of the property was the vegetation. The resort is massive and for every meal you will need to take a shuttle which comes in 15 minute intervals. Not very senior citizen or stroller friendly, since there is a lot of getting on and getting off. The staff is pretty friendly but if you want something done you need to demand it. My app wasn’t working to make a dinner reservation and they were telling me to walk to guest services instead of trying to fix the app. After persisting for help, they said the manager could fix it and he ended up doing so in one second and they looked annoyed. The first impression of the property was horrendous due to Karina, a lady working in the lobby having a big attitude and making me feel unwelcome. I cannot believe she is allowed to treat customers like this, she needs to be fired. All I asked her was if there were any other places to get coffee given the bar at the lobby was closed. She redirected me to the bar at the lobby and I told her it was closed due to the machine being broken to which she rolled her eyes and said “Oh my god calm down.” and “WOW you need to RELAX!” after interacting with her the door to my room suddenly stopped working. Watch out for her. Buffet was good and French, Indian and Mexican. Italian was not good at all. Only ok coffee is lobby made by Jesus.

Our first all inclusive vacation was amazing! No complaints whatsoever, all the staff were very helpful, spoke to us in either Spanish or English, the entire resort smelled good and clean. Good was amazingly good as well!

The Resort is okay. I feel that if you’re not a member of this resort you will be excluded from most of the areas, activities and restaurants. Other than that the staff is nice and food is good. If you manage to make a reservation on a restaurant I highly recommend you the French

Perfect place

Room service menu was limited and often out of items. Nice place but not so many amenities.

Beautiful hotel, but don’t expect pool side service. If you are use to any other destinations in Mexico like Cabo or Mazatlán, you will have to go to bar to get your drinks and go eat inside the restaurants. The breakfast buffet was great but the dinner situation sucked. Even if you tried to make a reservation they would tell you they were full but if you bought a bottle of wine some how you could get in and once in they places were literally 25% full and staff members standing around. What is the point of all inclusive if you have to pay extra for just basic stuff like dinner. I get they want you to get a time share but I paid more not having a time share! Probably would not return. Our room was very nice though, but the dinner situation and no pool side service really sucked!
