Novotel Canberra

Location was great. Buffet breakfast was good. Frustrating check-in. The self service machine didn't work although we were encouraged to use them. The worst things was, we were waken up at 5:55 am by the room phone. The staff member asked if we've requested linen, which we did not. Everyone was waken up. Otherwise we would have had a good sleep. When told we did not request the linen, the staff member simply hang up and did not even apologise. It is unbelievable that this place has staff who did not even think carefully before waking people up at 5:55am.

Handy location but everything else was a bit lacking. Looks rundown in the pool area, bathrooms not well looked after, sink half blocked and patches in the halway ceiling onky half finished. Staff were hit and miss with customer service - seemed like the hitel was being run down before the next renovation. Carparks ridiculously tight. Strange room layout for the 'executive' room - bathroom sink is inside the main room where you think the kitchenette should be. Overpriced for what they offer and would stay elsewhere next time.

Everything was great! Guys on front desk were amazing - nothing was a hassle and very glad to help where they could. The only thing is parking with a tall 4WD can be tricky as high ceiling spots are quite limited.

Everything was up to scratch. It was nice enough that the hotel gave me an upgrade.

Stayed in room 109 very clean very quiet comfy bed and curtains close to total darkness. Excellent value for money. Double check breakfast times as myself and two other couples all thought it finished at 10am. I had no cutlery and approached a female staff member who refused to acknowledge me?? I persisted with my enquiry still no response when another staff member intervened and helped me. The other one turned her back on me and very sarcastically said out loud ‘ she’ll get it for you now Sirrrrrrrrr’. Sorry but this uncalled for? I have no idea why this played out in this way? My stay was in the night of 19/3/26 and I arrived at breakfast at 9.15am if you want to follow this up?

Just fine. Location and Breakfast are the best parts. There was a big queue when I arrived so I did the self check-in but it didn't really work and ended up back down at the desk. Could be improved especially with the information you would normally get at check in with a person (e.g. Breakfast time and place, what floor your room is on etc). Room very dated with musty smell, asked for the fan to be cleaned in bathroom as full of dust (never was). Works for a couple of days but would consider staying somewhere else next time.

The rooms feel dated compared to other Novotels around Australia. However, the standout perk of this hotel is its excellent location in the heart of Canberra.

Pillows in room very bad, only 3 on the bed, all 3 smelled of body odour & flat as a board. Staff very courteous & welcoming

The parking was an issue and felt like we were misled when booking, in the room there was a note about having hot showers and if you set off the smoke alarm (obviously poor positioning on their part) we would be up for a $1500 fine!!!. It is not up to the usual or Novotel standard that I am use to. I would not stay there again

Yes they need a bit more variety for the buffet

Lots of muld in out of the shower. The plates at the breakfast buffet were always still wet and a couple not even washed properly, they had dried food kn them still. Breakfast was chaotic, it seemed under resourced. Apart from that all good and in great location.
