This place is adorable and in a great location! Beautiful lobby, dining area and room. Would stay here again. If I had to say one small negative it would be that the bathroom needs a little updating. It is a nice size. otherwise we really liked the hotel.

We travelled with family and booked 3 rooms, including the owner’s suite. All 3 were perfectly clean and beautifully designed. The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. They were helpful with coordinating private transportation and gave us great suggestions for dining options, and places to visit. Last but not least, breakfast was excellent, and the staff at the restaurant were very kind.

Hotel Wellenberg is excellently located in the heart of Zurich, making it very convenient for exploring the city. Our room was comfortable, although the air conditioning had a difficult time keeping up with the late-July heat. The hotel is beautifully decorated throughout, and I especially enjoyed learning about its history and the family who continue to own it. That personal story adds to its charm and boutique character. The staff were consistently helpful, polite, and welcoming. Breakfast was just right, with a nice selection and very attentive staff. The small courtyard was a wonderful surprise—quiet, peaceful, and a lovely place to begin the day. A few small details could help elevate the experience and maintain the highest-quality boutique feel: adding liners or small bags to the bathroom waste receptacles would create a more polished appearance and also be convenient for housekeeping, and providing body lotion as part of the in-room amenities would be appreciated. Overall, Hotel Wellenberg offers a comfortable stay, a wonderful location, gracious service, and a unique sense of history.

The air conditioning was a joke. Our room had a portable unit that was terrible (and loud). The water condensation bin filled every 3 hours and we could not empty it ourselves. Emptying required a bucket, lifting the entire machine over the bucket, and unscrewing the bottom of the unit.

Let me be blunt on this property. Location is great, right in the heart of old town if that is where you want or need to be. However the rest of the property is pretty beaten up. The pictures must be from when it was originally opened. We booked the Superior Double Room and it was old and beat up. There is no real AC and when Europe is going through another heatwave the tiny little after the fact AC unit doesn't do any good. At just under $400 a night I was expecting a bit more after having just traveled for 2 weeks around Switzerland and Austria this was a disappointment. Worst part was we asked where to get a Taxi as it is in a unique spot we thought we just had to walk a block or so. The front desk said no worries they can call a taxi for us. Well they have a car pick us up, not a Taxi and it is basically a limo but didn't know it was going to cost $82 CHF for a 13 minute ride to the airport. I would have just walked and found myself a cab for $20. Not trying to be cheap, easily spent $20,000 in the two weeks were were there for everything but just disappointed.

Staff was friendly (reception, breakfast staff, room service and housecleaning). Breakfast was perfect as it eliminated one meal cost for the day (so factor that into your room charge when evaluating other hotels). Saw prior unfavorable comments about the A/C - our room stayed cool even with the warm outside temperatures - we kept the drapes closed. Others said it was noisy, but if you don’t mind a slightly louder white noise machine, it is bearable (rather than the alternative). Convenient to main train station, old town, main shopping and lake. Would definitely recommend!

The hotel was very central for our needs. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was a good size but the bathroom was tiny. I booked a superior room and going by the photos on Expedia, these bathrooms looked much bigger. The bathroom we had did not feature on any of the pictures. The hotel does not appear to have proper installed air conditioning. We had a portable air con unit with a pipe going out of the window but it wasn’t very effective. We complained and they gave us a fan too.

The reception staff were extremely helpful from the moment we arrived. The hotel is conveniently situated with a very pleasant lounge where coffee and water are available. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The staff in the breakfast room were most efficient and cheerful. A good choice of hotel for visiting Zurich.

We had a great stay overall. The location is excellent and within walking distance of several great restaurants, making it easy to explore the area. The complimentary breakfast was a nice bonus and a great way to start the day. The only downside was the air conditioning. If you prefer to sleep in a cold room, it may not be ideal since it's a portable plug-in unit and the room stayed quite warm at night. Also, if you book through Expedia, keep in mind that the complimentary Expedia beverages do not include alcoholic drinks. Overall, it was a good stay. The housekeeping staff did a great job keeping the room clean, and I would consider staying here again.

The hotel is ideally situated for a tourist in old city. Restaurants, shops and transit are at your doorstep. We walked with our suitcase from Zurich HB and it was easy and almost completely level. The hotel has elevators and AIR CONDITIONING! our room was much larger than I expected. Breakfast is included which is a perk in an expensive city. My only complaints were the threadbare towels in the bathroom and the complete lack of any Swiss staff. Overall, I recommend this hotel.
