Beijing Daxing Airport (PKX), officially Beijing Daxing International Airport, is Beijing's second international airport. It sits in Daxing District, right on the border with Langfang in neighbouring Hebei, about 46 km south of central Beijing as the crow flies. Besides the capital, it serves the wider Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei region. Everything happens in one terminal building, used for both domestic and international flights, so there is no terminal to pick.
Beijing's other airport is Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), around 65 to 67 km away. The two are easy to mix up when you search for flights to Beijing, and they are far apart, so check which code is on your booking. This short guide covers the Daxing terminal, the rail and bus links into the city, and what to know before your flight.
If you are flying from Malaysia to Beijing, the airport code on your ticket matters more than the city name. PKX is Daxing, south of the city. PEK is Beijing Capital. A trip that lands at one and leaves from the other means a long transfer across Beijing, so try to keep connecting flights at the same airport.
The single terminal has five piers spreading out from a central hall. The rail stations sit directly beneath it. The west side of the terminal is mainly used by China Southern Airlines, while the centre-south pier handles international flights.
China Southern Airlines flies from Daxing and uses it as a hub, with its own check-in, baggage and transfer services in the terminal. Other Chinese and foreign airlines fly from Daxing too. Your e-ticket shows the operating airline and the airport, and that is what to follow.
Check-in for domestic and international flights is on level 4, with premium domestic check-in on the west side of level 3. Domestic security is on level 3, and domestic departures and arrivals share level 2. International departures are on level 3, while international arrivals and baggage reclaim are on level 1. If you come by train, there is a check-in point at the rail level, B1.
Daxing is a long way from the city centre, but the rail links under the terminal make it quicker than the distance suggests. Fares are shown at the station or the counter.
The Daxing Airport Express metro line leaves from the station hall at level B1, about 75 m from the terminal. It runs to Caoqiao in about 20 minutes, where you can change to Line 10 and continue north into the city.
The intercity railway station is also under the terminal, roughly a 150 m walk away. Trains run to Beijing West railway station in about 30 minutes, which is handy if you are heading to the west of the city or catching a long-distance train.
Airport buses leave from the terminal. City lines have included Beijing railway station, Beijing South, Tongzhou, Fangshan and a night service. Intercity lines have gone to Langfang, Tianjin, Baoding and Tangshan. Lines change from time to time, so check the bus operator's current list before you rely on one.
Follow your airline's advice on when to arrive. As a guide, China Southern Airlines closes domestic check-in at Daxing 40 minutes before departure and international check-in 50 minutes before. Those are cut-offs, not suggested arrival times, so allow for the journey out from the city and for security on top. Entry and transit rules for China depend on your passport, so read the official guidance before you travel. On the day, the Traveloka flight status page shows the latest times for your flight.
Higher up this page, the fare cards show fares on popular routes out of Beijing. The schedule tables below them list a selection of upcoming flights at PKX by date, with the airline and the scheduled times. Use them to see who flies your route, then search your own dates to compare every option and set a Price Alert if you would rather wait.
