Kepala Batas is a town in North Seberang Perai, Penang. It is also acts as the administration complex for Seberang Perai’s government office. It is situated in between Butterworth, Penang to Sungai Petani, Kedah and only 30 kilometres away from Georgetown, Penang.

Kepala Batas is referred to the front part of the rice paddy field which is the boundary part of the paddy field. The area of Kepala Batas is mostly around the coast of the beach, which always being victimised by the flood.

How to Get There

By Car

If you are travelling from Kuala Lumpur, you can head to Kepala Batas via the North-South Expressway Northern Route. You may take the exit to Bertam and proceed to the road heading to Kepala Batas from there. It is estimated that the road journey will take up 3 hours and 58 minutes.

By Train

You can take train to Kepala Batas from Kuala Lumpur by stopping at Butterworth and take on a bus to Bukit Mertajam. After reaching Bukit Mertajam, you may take another bus heading to Kepala Batas from Bukit Mertajam Bus Station. Estimated time of journey will take up to 10 hours 45 minute, compared to driving a car to Kepala Batas.

Pulau Pinang National Park

This national park is located in Teluk Bahang and it is an attraction to visitors when coming to Penang Island. It is situated near to the coast of Penang’s beach and has a measure of 1,266 hectare. You can camp out to this place if you are one of the volunteers of a preserve community. While inside the national park, you can enjoy being closer with the nature with its serene and relax environment. You may also enjoy watching the birds from different species and other wildlife creature. It will only take you 1 hour and 22 minutes to reach this national park from Kepala Batas.

Snake Temple

This temple is located in Sungai Kluang, Bayan Lepas and would be the only temple being a living habitat for snakes. As being informed by locals, this temple is full of the incense smoke and cobra snakes. The devotees believe that the cobras are not dangerous but there are safety precautions being taken while handling the cobras by removing their venom. Visitors also being warned not to take photos and put the cobras onto their body for entertainment purpose as they believe it is sacred animal in the temple. Initially, after the temple has been built, the cobras had come voluntarily in a sudden situation, which explains the devotees to believe that the cobras are there for a reason to protect the temple from bad luck.

This is garden is located in Georgetown, Penang Island. It is an important institution in Malaysia as being recorded in history. In most of the time, this garden is a place for people to exercise and do recreational activities with their families or friends.
