Nibong Tebal is an area located in South of Seberang Perai district of Penang. The name Nibong Tebal means "dense palms", and it refers to the nibong trees that grow in the surrounding mangrove. . By Plane

From Kuala Lumpur International Airport at Sepang, there are flights available daily to Penang International Airport at Bayan lepas and the duration flight is about 55 minutes. Next, once you reach the airport, you can rent a car or take a taxi to Nibong Tebal which takes another 50 minutes via Jambatan Kedua Pulau Pinang road.

By Car/Bus

You can reach Nibong Tebal from Kuala Lumpur by using North- South highway which takes around 3 hours and 20 minutes. If by bus, it usually takes approximately 35 minutes from Penang and 20 minutes from Butterworth. There are also buses from Johor Bahru depart for Nibong Tebal at 9.45pm daily. You can also take Rapid Penang bus 801, 802 and 803 to the Nibong Tebal Bus Terminal at Jalan Baru.

Chai Seng Aquarium

This aquarium was established at 1989 and located only 2 minutes away from Nibong Tebal. Amazing Nibong Tebal

Located just 4 minutes away from Nibong Tebal town, there is an amazing synchronised flash of light hovering over mangrove trees that lined the river bank. The specific species of mangrove tree which attracts these fireflies is the berembang (sonneratia caseolaris). Fireflies watching at Sungai Kerian have also been lauded by many visitors as a ‘must visit’ tourist attraction. In fact, the fire fly is an icon of Nibong Tebal. In addition to firefly watching, there are sunset cruises, tour at the charcoal village and morning cruise.
