What Guests Say About Their Stay

Laura

We've stayed at the Greenbank multiple times over the past couple of years so I feel like I can give a fair review of a typical experience. The staff are an absolute highlight: always friendly, polite and professional, from the desk staff to the restaurant staff to the cleaners. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are generously sized and equipped with everything you might need for a standard stay, plus a few nice extras. I particularly appreciate the wonderful smelling toiletries provided, the big, fluffy towels and the decent selection of teas and coffees. The mini fridge is a nice touch, and my partner appreciates the coffee machine. The bed is comfy and noise from neighbours/corridors is never too intrusive. Plenty of storage space is provided, as well as hangers. The water runs hot and the shower is powerful, what's not to love. The included breakfast is outstanding. Again, nothing is too much trouble, reasonable requests are accommodated, service is efficient without you feeling rushed and the view is fantastic. The food is great quality too, with locally sourced ingredients where possible, cooked to order. My only slight complaint is that a little more attention could be given to room cleanliness; things like toothpaste splashes up the walls, hairs left in the shower and visible dust on fixtures over multiple visits aren't a deal-breaker, but don't fit in with the otherwise outstanding experience I've had at this hotel. Would definitely recommend overall.

Parking was either a few spaces out the front of the hotel most reserved. There's also parking on the quay which the hotel use and also a few spaces in underground car park. The building is old and this shows in some spaces ie sash windows which allows the sound of the weather and traffic. Also lots of bird poo on the mainwindow which spoilt the great view. Breakfast was nice but a wait to be served as everything is delivered to your table. Went down at 8.30 it was busy tried 8am next morning and waited longer. Also they got my breakfast order wrong which meant I had to wait 10 mins for it to be cooked. Waiter did apologise though. It would be much better to allow you to choose your own cereal/pastries etc and take cooked to order

This hotel has really good points but also some issues that need some thought by the management. It was strange to be “upgraded” to a room which was a double when we had booked a family room. Breakfast is based on the assumption that you’re a holidaymaker not someone attending for work. It took over 20 minutes to get a bowl of cornflakes. Finally, and possibly the most concerning, was the staff and their approach in some cases. I waited for a taxi in the foyer for about 5 minutes in the morning and the swearing and language I heard whilst there was something that should happen in an area where customers can overhear - it shouldn’t really happen at all. It was a disappointment as otherwise the room was really nice.

Very friendly staff and comfortable accommodation. Good food, clean and everything needed to make a great stay. Only small niggle was unable to open window and I am a fresh air freak. Slow draining sink which I did report. Great location and choices from the bar. Excellent value for money on current offers. Would stay again.
