Bandar Utama Damansara is a residential township located within the Damansara subdivision of the Petaling District, Selangor. It is a residential suburb and home to the popular 1 Utama Shopping Centre. It is also conveniently located within close proximity to some of the top shopping and leisure centers within Petaling Jaya such as The Curve, IKANO Power Centre, Ikea and Tropicana City Mall. Bandar Utama is home to some well-known companies such as Media Prima the operator of TV3, 8TV, NTV7 and Fly FM.

Bandar Utama Damansara, like most of Damansara, falls under the jurisdiction of the Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (Petaling Jaya City Council). As of 2004 it is estimated that there are 59,040 people residing in Bandar Utama Damansara. The primary residents appear to be Chinese followed by Indian and Malay. Development of Bandar Utama Damansara began in the early 1990s under the company named See Hoy Chan Holdings Sdn. Bhd and an attempt to modernize the area was made, with the opening of Sri Pentas, TV3's broadcast centre as well as the 1 Utama Shopping Centre and its Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Kuala Lumpur outlet to Bandar Utama Damansara in 1995.

How to Get There

By Plane

You can fly to Kuala Lumpur International Airport from any major airports around the world. From airport you can take taxi to Bandar Utama. The distance from airport to Bandar Utama is about 57.9 km and 46 minutes’ drive from airport.

By Car

You may drive to reach Bandar Utama by using two key highways namely the Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP) and the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE). Bandar Utama also can be access through Sprint Expressway, Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE), Federal Highway, Sungai Buloh Highway and Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2). If you travel from North, you may use North-South Expressway and if you travel from South you may use South-North Expressway to reach Bandar Utama.

By Train

You may take MRT train from Muzium Negara MRT Station or Pasar Seni MRT Station to Bandar Utama MRT Station. You also can reach Bandar Utama by LRT train at Kl Sentral Station to Kelana Jaya LRT Station. From there you can take taxi or RapidKL bus U82 or U88 to Bandar Utama.

By Bus

You can take RapidKL Bus (800) from Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station, Putrajaya Sentral (506), and Kelana Jaya LRT Station (U82 or U88) to reach Bandar Utama. With the opening of the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line, feeder buses also began operating linking the residential areas in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Bandar Utama and Kampung Sungai Penchala.
