By Bus

The Pan-Borneo highway connects Bintulu and the major city of Sarawak. There are express buses that will take you to Bintulu comfortably within a few hours from Sarawak. The express bus service is also a cheap means of transport to Bintulu. The name of the central bus station for all the city buses is Jaya bus station. Bintulu also has the luxury of intercity buses that cover some parts of the town as well. These intercity buses provide a comfortable ride through the town.

Similajau National Park

The main tourist attraction is Bintulu is the Similajau National Park. A narrow strip of forest fronted by golden sand beaches. As this is a protected area, thus, a permit is required to enter the national park which is available at the park entrance. There are accommodations, seminars room, admin and info centre and also jungle treks.

Council Negeri Memorial

In Bintulu town, itself is the Council Negeri Memorial which commemorates Sarawak's first State Legislative Assembly. On 8th.September 1867. It is located on the site where the first Sarawak State Legislative assembly was held. A centenary stone commemorating the centennial of the historic meeting was erected on this site in 1967 and was further improved to include a clock tower and fountain in 1987, the fountain was attractively fenced up in November 1998 for safety and aesthetical purpose.

Pasar Tamu and Pasar Malam

The cone-shaped roof Pasar Tamu and Pasar Utama located near to each other along the riverfront. Selling a range of local produces and local hawker food favourites. You can find the famous “Bintulu Belacan” or the shrimp paste here. At night you can try out the various food and drinks and cakes found at Pasar Malam located off Abang Galau Road.
