The national park was gazetted in the year of 1976 and acts as a home and natural habitat for flora and fauna. There are many types of flora species such as the herbal Tongkat Ali which aids in men's fertility and many beneficial herbs, leaves and colourful flowers. Similajau National Park also features beaches such as Batu Mandi, View Point, Batu Anchau, Selunsur Rapid, Sebubong Pool, Turtle Beach and Golden Beach that are located nearby each other. These national park also offers many recreational activities including snorkeling, bird watching, jungle trekking, sea and river cruising.
