Cheras is a district of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The township is located to the south-east of Kuala Lumpur. Cheras is also adjacent to Ampang to the north and Kajang to the south, both of which are major towns within the metropolitan area of Kuala Lumpur. Cheras are divided into two; Cheras, Kuala Lumpur and Cheras, Selangor. Cheras in general is resided by Malays, Chinese and Indian which every race speaks their own language; Bahasa Malaysia, mandarin and tamil. Therefore, by touring Cheras, the tourists can literally see what ‘1 Malaysia’ means. Despite of the different races and languages, these Malaysians can happily and tolerantly run their daily lives. Cheras is now a fast developing town where a lot of offices, apartments, shopping malls are being built.

How to Get There

By Train

From Kuala Lumpur International Airport, take the train ERL or KL Express straight to Bandar Tasik Selatan. Get off from the train and take a cab to your destination in Cheras.

By Bus

From KLCC, if you are planning to ride rapid KL bus, take the bus with route number T300, T301, T302, T303, T304, T350, T351, T352. All these buses are heading to different destinations in Cheras.

Petrosains, The Discovery Centre

Located in Surial KLCC, this 7,000sqm interactive science discovery centre is largely dedicated to the field of petroleum science and presents science and technology in a fun and entertaining way. Here, visitors are encouraged to touch, feel and manipulate displays and exhibits. Closed only on Monday, the interactive showcases are divided into 11 main area, which can be visited in any order.

Aquaria KLCC

Said to be one of the best aquariums in Asia, Aquaria KLCC features 60,000 square feet underwater tunnel that houses over 250 different species and over 5,000 land and aquatic lives from Malaysia and around the world. Aquaria is opened daily, including weekends and public holidays, from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm. The latest admission is at 7 pm. The admission fee is RM49 for local adult and RM69 for foreign visitor, RM39 for local child and RM59 for foreign child. Senior citizen (those up to 60 years old) enjoy special rate.

IKEA Cheras

Situated at 2A Jalan Cochrane, Taman Maluri, 55100 Kuala Lumpur, IKEA is Scandinavian chain selling high quality ready-to-assemble furniture, housewares, in a warehouse-like building. Visiting IKEA makes you get the idea of decorating your homes beautifully.

Sunway Velocity

As a chain to Sunway Group, Sunway Velocity is a new shopping mall opened in 2017. This seven levels mall stores famous brands such as Hush Puppies, Sketchers, Brands Outlet and a lot more.
