Hotels in Puchong

The first community of the area were the Orang Asli caommunity in a village known as Kampung Pulas. In 1900, heron which is known in Malay as burung puchong were many in the area and were a staple food for the Orang Asli. Back then, the people worked as fishermen, rubber tappers and miners. Immigrants from China and Pakistan were then also brought in due to the booming tin mining industry. During the 1980s, Puchong consisted of a single two-lane road running through estates and villages. Puchong development began in the year 1985, when the mining licenses expired and infrastructure began to be built. Since then, urbanization has occurred rapidly with many industrial parks, commercial centres and residential areas along Jalan Puchong.

Puchong town is nearby towns such as Sunway, Subang Jaya and Shah Alam. There are roads linked to these towns and also to Kuala Lumpur. In Puchong, there is a wet market called Puteri Mart at Bandar Puteri beside the MBA Stadium and the Town Park where residents can shop for their groceries. Residents of Puchong can also do their shopping in Tesco, IOI Mall, Giant, Jusco, Puchong Parade and Puchong Plaza shopping mall. There is a place called SetiaWalk Puchong where there are many shops open inside such as cinema, bowling and fast food restaurants.

How to Get There

By Car

The main road through Puchong is the LDP E11 which links this town all the way to Kepong. Another route, the KESAS E5 connects Puchong to Port Klang and Sri Petaling. There are also bus services connecting Puchong to Kuala Lumpur, Subang Jaya, Petaling Jaya, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya. Bus services are provided by RapidKL buses and Metrobus which have routes along Jalan Puchong to various destinations around Klang Valley.

Ayer Itam Forest Reserve

The reserve is located 8 minutes away from west of Puchong townships, Seri Kembangan to the south, Subang Jaya to the north and Kajang to the east. Ayer Hitam is classified as lowland dipterocarp forest. Tapirs and panthers as well as some birdlife and reptiles and and more individuals of the Kelat (Eugenia species) and Kedondong (Canarium species), including a very rare light brown terrapin can be found here. The reserve is leased out to a nearby local university, University Putra Malaysia (UPM) since the 1990s, for 80 years to conduct research. Visitors are advised to take plenty of water or bring water, a snack, comfortable shoes and an effective insect repellent before coming here as a precaution.

Wet World Shah Alam

Wet World Waterpark is located at Selangor and it is called Wet World Shah Alam. It is 26 minutes away from Puchong town and located at Shah Alam town near State Mosque. Wet World is the largest chain of waterparks which is a family oriented park. The park is ideal to host group function, carnivals, parties, family day, school picnics, corporate event and fundraising activities. There are many activities here such as water slides, tube rides and pirate –themed splash pools.
