Seri Kembangan, formerly known as Serdang New Village is a town located in Selangor, Malaysia. Seri Kembangan is located near Putrajaya, Sungai Besi and Puchong. It covers an area of Balakong, Taman Lestari Perdana, Taman Lestari Putra and Taman Serdang Raya up to Taman Equine. Seri Kembangan is about 25 km from Kuala Lumpur.

In 1952, Seri Kembangan was established as the Serdang New Village. Initially, it is a part of Briggs plan where the British moved Malaysian Chinese from Sungai Besi to a centralised location due to the Communist threat during the Malayan Emergency era. After nearly two decades of many sad stories, in 1974 a proposal was made to develop the area and change its name. The name Seri Kembangan was chosen to erase bitter occurrences as well as to inject positive spirit among the settlers whereby it is hope that it will bring sparkle or ‘seri’ and keep on expanding or ‘kembang’ in moving forward.

Locals in Seri Kembangan predominantly speaks Chinese language in Hokkien dialect. They also converse in Cantonese and Mandarin. Bahasa Melayu and English are well versed as a common language.

How To Get There

By Bus

Seri Kembangan is regarded as the southern gateway into Kuala Lumpur for motorists coming from southern Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca and Johore. Seri Kembangan is located at the intersection of three tolled highways, namely Besraya, KLS and PLUS highways. Seri Kembangan is also accessible by the Maju Expressway (MEX). There is also an interchange for Seri Kembangan with KESAS highway and Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2).

By Train

Other public transport available in Seri Kembangan is Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) Intercity service that provides stops at KTM Serdang station. From the station, guests may hail a taxi to reach Seri Kembangan.
