Located about 20km from the Kuala Lumpur City Center, Subang Jaya is a self-contained center of higher education institutions, eateries, independent retail stores. It is also the hub of many interesting activities that one can enjoy with their close friends and family. Not only that, Subang Jaya is also the house to an abundance of excellent eateries that offers a unique gastronomic experience.
Subang Jaya was first developed as a residential area in 1974 and it was only known for the Subang International Airport (Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport), which today has been replaced by KLIA as Malaysia’s main international airport. The Subang Jaya today consist of SS12 -SS19 on the northern end, USJ on the southern end and Bandar Sunway, Bandar Tiga and also Putra Heights.
With a variety of watery rides on offer and plenty of dry-land activities too, excitement is certainly the name of the game at the 80-acre Sunway Lagoon Theme Park. One of Petaling Jaya’s most famous attractions, its list of rides is extensive with water slides that whirl and twirl, a manmade ‘river’ ride, surf beach, wave pool and even a 360° revolving pirate ship. The park is divided into five different zones – a water park with the world’s largest manmade surf beach, the Scream Park, Amusement Park, Extreme Park and Wildlife Park.
One of the best known entertainment venues in Subang Avenue shopping mall is The Wheels, an indoor roller blade and in-line disco skating rink. Said to be the largest roller skating rink in Malaysia, The Wheels gives inline bladers and skaters over 1,600 square meters of wheel space amidst racing laser beams and thumping house music. The Wheels is also the largest roller-skating rink in Malaysia and the only one that truly incorporates dancing, clubbing and skating.
Subang Ria Park is known as the oldest recreational park in Subang Jaya. It is located nearby Sime Darby Medical Centre and is spread out across 72.6 acres of lush greenery with a massive lake and breathtaking views of Subang Jaya. Some activities that can be enjoyed in this park include jogging, cycling, as well as unwinding and picnicking by the lake.
Dorsett Grand Subang, formerly known as the Sheraton Subang Jaya is a four-star property with a difference.
