Ampang is one famous historic town and a busy district of Kuala Lumpur city. Ampang is being put under Titiwangsa constituency. Ampang is divided into two parts which are Ampang Kuala Lumpur and Ampang Selangor. Ampang Kuala Lumpur can be identified as being along the famous Ampang road and Ampang Hilir. Historically, in 1857 when Raja Abdullah became the representative of the Selangor Sultanate, he opened a tin mining industry in Klang Valley and Ampang was one of the earliest tin mining areas. The name "Ampang" means "dam" in Malay and the place was named in reference to the miners' dams. Getting to Ampang by driving own car, you can use KLCC as your landmark. From Hulu Kelang area, you can use Jalan Ulu Kelang or Jalan Tun Razak. From Cheras, you can use Jalan Shamelin. From Bangsar, you can use lebuh raya Sultan Iskandar which was previously known as Mahameru.
Getting to Ampang by train, there are a few stations you can go to. Ride Putra LRT and get off at Ampang station or KLCC station. From these stations, you can get a taxi to take you to your destination
