Bandar Sri Damansara is an upscale residential area and township within the district of Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. This is a mixed residential and commercial zone which is usually regarded for its wealthier residents. It is one of the satellite suburbs built outside of the Kuala Lumpur city centre and located closely to similar townships such as Damansara Perdana, Kota Damansara, Bandar Utama, Mutiara Damansara and many more. It has been established recently in 1996 and the development work has been carried out by Land and General Berhad before being taken over by TA Global ever since. Bandar Sri Damansara is placed under the administration of Petaling Jaya City Council, which is similar to other areas within Damansara.
Historically, the township in a whole as the Petaling Jaya district was under the jurisdiction of the Kuala Lumpur district officer prior to year 1953. In 1954, a Petaling Jaya Authority was formed to oversee Petaling Jaya before getting upgraded as a municipality council in 1977 after the ceasion of Petaling Jaya, which is also locally known as PJ, as a part of Kuala Lumpur upon the latter being declared as a Federal Territory three years earlier. Later in 2006, Petaling Jaya is granted the city status and a mayor has been appointed, making the municipality council upgraded again to the current city council. Petaling Jaya or Bandar Sri Damansara in specific houses some of the major shopping malls in the Klang Valley which drives its economy such as One Utama, Ikano Power Centre, The Curve and Ikea.
