Bintulu is a coastal town on the island of Borneo and is one of the most famous tourist spots in Sarawak. The town is located approximately 650 km away from Kuching and about 215 km away from Miri. Being a major industrial center, Bintulu is the main town that hosts the Petronas Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Complex, which is currently the world’s largest liquefied natural gas production facility on a single site.

Due to the booming of industrialization and modernization, there are very few natural rainforests still surviving here in Bintulu, fighting against the constant demand of forest wood and other natural resources. Tourist Attractions

Similajau National Park

The main tourist attraction in Bintulu is the Similajau National Park with narrow strip of forest fronted by golden sand beaches. As this is a protected area, a permit is required to enter the national park which are available at the park entrance. There are accommodations, seminars room, admin info center and also jungle treks.

Council Negeri Memorial, Bintulu

The Council Negeri Memorial commemorates Sarawak's first State Legislative Assembly which took place on the 8th of September 1867. It is located on the site where the first Sarawak State Legislative assembly was held. A centenary stone commemorating the centennial of the historical meeting was erected on this site in 1967 and was further improved to include a clock tower and fountain in 1987, the fountain was attractively fenced up in November 1998 for safety and aesthetical purpose.

Kampung Jepak

Kampung Jepak, is a traditional fishing village. The place is mostly inhabited by the Melanaus group of people. The main attraction of the place lies in the fact that the people there still use old traditional ways of fishing. After catching a fish, it undergoes various processing. All these are done in the old traditional style by the Kampung Jepak fishermen.
