Taiping is the second largest city after Ipoh in Perak, Malaysia. This city underwent a swift development after a major discovery of tin mine in 19th century.

From kuala Lumpur, there are various means of transportations.
Public bus (KKKL Express) departs every day from Puduraya Bus Terminal at 2:30 PM and alights at Kamunting Bus Terminal (Hentian Kamunting Raya), which is seven kilometers away from Taiping. Another bus service, operated by Transnasional Bus, serves trips every few hours (8:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM, 4:30 PM, 6:30 PM, and 9 PM). The bus trip cost starts from 25.00 MYR (price and schedule are subject to change). The journey takes two to three hours.
From KL Sentral Train Station, take the north-bound train from KL to Hat Yai, alighting at Taiping. The train departs on 10 PM and is scheduled to arrive on 03:30 AM at Taiping. You may book beforehand at KTMB website for more choices on seating. Train fare starts from 4 PM. Choices of sleeper beds are available.

The first park to open for public during Great Britain’s rule over Malaysia, Taiping Lake Garden was initially a mining area. In 1880, it was diverted to be a park.
Taiping Lake Garden covers around 10 ponds and artificial lakes in various sizes, which can be spotted throughout the 64 hectares of land. You can explore the vast and refreshing view of the ponds and greeneries all over the place.
There is no admission fee to enter Taiping Lake Garden.
First Galleria is a museum to the rich history of Taiping city since its humble beginning. This museum collection includes: train rail, jail, bicycle, and the public phone, which all are the very first objects existing in Malaysia.

Perak Museum is the first and oldest museum in Malaysia, established in 1883 by Sir Hugh Low. A number of 8,000 collections of archaeological and cultural values are sheltered in the historical museum.
