Dungun Museum is a museum located in the Dungun district of Terengganu, Malaysia and it was launch on August 19, 2008. The establishment of the District Museum was taken during the Economic Region Launch (ECER) by YAB Prime Minister of Malaysia on 28th October 2007. The Dungun District Museum was previously the official residence of the District Officer and was built in 1941 in a building that was once the home of the British Adviser at Dungun. The Terengganu State Museum Board proposed to the State Government for a Dungun District to be held Museums since the 1930s, it is famous all over the world in relation to iron ore mining in Bukit Besi, Dungun.
This museum helps to increase the promotion of coastal, island, cultural and legacy tourism. Some of artifacts taken from Wanli's shipwreck which was found outside the Beach Tanjung Jara in 1997 are featured at the museum. Besides, there are also artifacts on the history of the Dungun district and its surroundings. Besides asset as tourism industry, the main aim of this museum is for the public to acknowledge and appreciate Islamic architecture and local heritage. On top of that, it also acts as a source of reference and research of students of schools, colleges, universities and individuals. The entrance fee is free and this museum opens from Saturday to Thursday between 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and close on Friday and Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Aidiladha.
From Kuala Lumpur, it takes around 4 hours and 10 minutes by using car with Mahameru and Iskandar highway from Jalan Tun Perak to Kuala Dungun. You can take exit 851-Kuala Dungun and Durian Mentagu-Citrus Valley and Jalan Bukit Besi - Dungun/Route 132 to Dungun Museum.
You can take flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Kuala Terengganu Airport around 55 minutes. Once you reach the airport, taxi and rental cars are available for you to go Dungun Museum for another 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Batik Sarong and craft arts are sell here for a cheaper price compared to Kuala Lumpur.
