The Metro Specialist Hospital is the first private hospital in Sungai Petani, Kedah was opened in the year 1993. Back then, it was known as Bersatu Medical Centre, started in just two shop lots and four specialist doctors. The name was changed to what it is now in 1996. Six years later, this private hospital moved to the current premise, which is bigger and much more spacious.
Now the Metro Specialist Hospital resides in a four-storey building with 95 beds, seven intensive care units, four operation theatres, and two dozen of consultation suits with twenty-four specialist doctors. The specialist clinics of the hospital open from Sunday to Thursday, from 9 am to 5 pm. It also opens on Friday, except only until one in the afternoon. The Metro Specialist Hospital is located in the district of Kuala Muda, about a one-hour drive from the capital of Kedah, Alor Setar.
Driving to the Metro Specialist Hospital from Alor Setar will be going through the North-South Highway for 71 kilometres. If from Kuala Lumpur, it is also via the North_south Highway, and the trip will take about four hoursโ worth of driving.
