Taman Melati LRT station is a landmark of an elevated rapid transit station situated in northern part of the capital Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, serving a single line that forms part of the Kelana Jaya Line operated by Rapid Rail. The station is opened on 1 June 1999 as a part of line’s second segment consisting of twelve stations between Masjid Jamek station and PUTRA terminal except for Sri Rampai station which is more newly built. This station has a three-story design, where the access points are at street level, and the ticket area and adjoining platforms on the two elevated levels. All these levels are connected via stairways, escalators and elevators.

Another distinctive quality is that the station uses a single island platform for bi-directional trains and is entirely sheltered by a gabled roof. The benefit of such design is to bypass the road traffic and to avoid the railway from becoming blocking the road users. It is one of the two Kelana Jaya stations serving the areas of Taman Melati and Taman Cemerlang, the other being the Gombak LRT station. The Taman Melati station is located on the northern edge of the Kuala Lumpur’s city limits, which is 400 meters away from Kuala Lumpur-Selayang border, alongside Persiaran Pertahanan. The station is also accessible from the west via Gombak Setia, from the south via Taman Setapak Jaya and from the north via Taman Cemerlang.

How to Get There

By Car

People driving from Kuala Lumpur may drive through the Sultan Iskandar HIghway for immediate access to Taman Melati LRT station. The journey could take up to twenty minutes depending on the current traffic situation.

By Train

From Kuala Lumpur International Airport, visitors can catch the Express Rail Link (ERL) train which goes to KL Sentral/Bandar Tasik Putrajaya/Cyberjaya/Salak Tinggi/KLIA route. There, one can board the Light Rail Transit (LRT) coach heading to Gombak and stop by the Taman Melati station which is just before Gombak station.
