Great, spacious, clean apartment for family of 5. Reasonable location, fairly central, close to monorail station and metro station. Very friendly and helpful lobby staff. Fabulous infinity pool with great view, funny to watch everyone posing for their pictures and selfies. Only downside was that there was only one key (and lift pass) per family which was a bit inconvenient. Overall though, an enjoyable stay.

Our stay was awesome! The accommodations were great. The facility was located within simple walking distance of the Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur (KL) Tower, KL Aquarium, and about a five minute (at the most) walk from a metro stop. Securing a taxi from the establishment to other locations such as the Bird Park was easy. Utilizing the concierge desk allowed us to make arrangements to visit sites such as Batu Cave. Facility amenities such as gym and outdoor infinity pool (51st floor) added to the pleasure of the stay giving us a view of the city and the towers all lit up at night. If we are given the opportunity to visit Kuala Lumpur again, we will stay at The Platinum Suite.

This policy is common in many urban hotels and service apartments, prioritizing the comfort and safety of all guests.

This guideline ensures that the environment remains suitable for all visitors, including those with allergies or sensitivities. When planning your trip to Kuala Lumpur with your pet, it's advisable to research pet-friendly accommodations or consider boarding facilities available in the city. This allows you to enjoy your stay at The Platinum Suites without any concerns regarding your beloved animals.

Check-in and Check-out Information

Upon arriving at The Platinum Suites, you can proceed with check-in from 15:00 onwards. This standard check-in time allows the hotel staff ample opportunity to prepare your room after the previous guest's departure, ensuring it is clean and ready for your arrival. When you check in, you will typically be asked to present a valid identification document, such as your MyKad or passport, and possibly a credit card for any incidental charges.

If you happen to arrive earlier than 15:00, it's always a good idea to inquire at the 24-hour front desk if an early check-in is possible. While not guaranteed, sometimes rooms become available sooner, and the staff will do their best to accommodate you. If your room isn't ready, you can usually store your luggage with the hotel's concierge service, allowing you to start exploring the surrounding shopping area without being burdened by your bags.

The check-out time at The Platinum Suites is before 12:00. This allows the hotel to commence cleaning and preparation for incoming guests. If you require a later check-out, it's best to arrange this with the front desk in advance. Depending on the hotel's occupancy, late check-out might be possible, sometimes for an additional fee. If a late check-out isn't feasible, you can still utilize the luggage storage facility to continue your day of exploration before heading to your next destination or the airport.

Your Travel Guide to Kuala Lumpur as a Malaysian Traveler

How to Get to Kuala Lumpur from Kuala Lumpur and Major Malaysian Cities

For Malaysian travelers looking to journey to Kuala Lumpur, several convenient and cost-effective options are available. Flying is a popular choice for those coming from further afield, such as Sabah or Sarawak, or even from Peninsular Malaysian cities like Penang or Johor Bahru. Airlines like Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, and Batik Air offer frequent flights into Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and klia2. Fares can vary significantly, but booking your flight in advance, especially during promotional periods, can secure very attractive MYR prices, often starting from as low as MYR 100 for domestic routes.

If you prefer a more grounded journey, the bus network connecting major Malaysian cities to Kuala Lumpur is extensive and budget-friendly. Companies like Plusliner, Konsortium Bas Ekspres Semenanjung, and KKKL operate comfortable coaches that arrive at various terminals in Kuala Lumpur, most notably TBS (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan). A bus ticket from Penang to Kuala Lumpur, for instance, typically costs between MYR 35 to MYR 50, with a travel time of around 4 to 5 hours. This option is ideal for those who enjoy scenic road travel and wish to save on transportation costs.

Driving your own vehicle or renting one offers the ultimate flexibility. Kuala Lumpur is well-connected by a network of expressways, including the North-South Expressway. From Penang, the drive is approximately 4 to 5 hours, while from Johor Bahru, it's about 3 to 4 hours. Toll charges are applicable and can add up, so it's wise to factor these into your budget. For example, tolls from Penang to KL can range from MYR 40 to MYR 60 one way.

This method allows you to stop at points of interest along the way and have your own transport once you reach the city.

Best Time to Visit Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur enjoys a tropical rainforest climate, meaning it's warm and humid throughout the year. For Malaysian travelers, this generally means you can visit anytime without worrying about extreme cold. However, there are slight variations to consider. The period from March to May and September to November tends to be slightly warmer and can experience more rainfall.

The driest months are typically from June to August, making this a popular time for both local and international tourists. However, this also coincides with peak tourist season, so expect larger crowds and potentially higher prices for accommodation and flights. For those seeking a balance between good weather and fewer crowds, the shoulder months can be a good compromise. Regardless of when you visit, always be prepared for sudden rain showers, which are common in tropical climates.

Food and Dining Near Kuala Lumpur — What Malaysian Travelers Must Try

No trip to Kuala Lumpur is complete without indulging in its incredible culinary scene, a true reflection of Malaysia's diverse heritage. A national dish that you absolutely must try is Nasi Lemak. This fragrant rice cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf is typically served with spicy sambal, fried anchovies, peanuts, cucumber, and a hard-boiled egg. It's a breakfast staple but enjoyed any time of day.

Another iconic dish is Char Kway Teow, a stir-fried flat rice noodle dish cooked over high heat with prawns, cockles, bean sprouts, chives, and egg, often with a hint of dark soy sauce for color and flavor. For a lighter yet equally satisfying option, Roti Canai is a must. This flaky flatbread, often served with dhal (lentil curry) or curry chicken, is a breakfast and supper favorite.

For those who enjoy noodles in a rich, flavorful broth, Laksa variations are abundant. Penang Assam Laksa, with its tangy fish-based broth, or Curry Laksa, a creamy, spicy coconut milk-based soup, offer distinct and delicious experiences. And no Malaysian food exploration is complete without trying Satay – marinated and grilled skewers of chicken or beef, served with a peanut sauce, cucumber, and onions. These dishes, readily available in halal-certified establishments across Kuala Lumpur, offer a true taste of Malaysia.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Kuala Lumpur

Malaysian culture is a beautiful blend of Malay, Chinese, and Indian influences, and this is reflected in the local customs and etiquette. When visiting religious sites like mosques or temples, it's important to dress modestly, covering shoulders and knees. Malaysians are generally very welcoming and polite; a simple "terima kasih" (thank you) goes a long way.

Safety in Kuala Lumpur is generally good, but like any major city, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings. Keep valuables secure, especially in crowded areas, and be cautious of petty theft. For emergencies, the national emergency number is 999. It's also advisable to have the MySejahtera app installed, which was crucial during recent health advisories and remains useful for checking venue health statuses.

To navigate the city efficiently, the Grab app is indispensable for ride-hailing services, offering a convenient and often affordable way to get around. For public transport payments, ensure you have a Touch 'n Go card or use its e-wallet function. Other useful apps include Google Maps for navigation and potentially local news apps to stay updated on events or advisories.

Check-in was ridiculous. Previously I've been able to check-in at reception, now it's through an agent, who couldn't find my booking. It took ages and was very stressful and then they made us change rooms after one night into a worse room. Then there's the amazing pool, which was ruined by an overzealous guard with unfathomable rules. We weren't allowed to walk the 3 meters from our table in the restaurant terrace to the pool - we had to go back through the restaurant, and back through security. No drinks by the pool either (that has changed). Basically no fun in the pool either. No one could explain why these rules were in place, but only that the rules had to be enforced. The accommodation itself was good value for money, but a lot of disappointments in there too.

Checking was complicated and unusual, unsafe to scan your document with someone seating in a corner in the lobby surrounded by strange people. Check out was good, quick and seemed smooth. The second day, I waited whole day for cleaning crew after ample contacts.

If the price is too good to be true, then it probably is. I wish I would of known when I booked that this isn't a real hotel. It is privately owned apartments that they rent out and it functions semi like a hotel. I assumed it was a normal hotel but upon arrival I had to ask where to check in and I was told to contact my host, they showed me on my email confirmation from Expedia the fine print that showed my host name, I had to call them on WhatsAp, there was a group of people sitting in the lobby on couches with laptops that took my information and gave me one key. Traveling in a foreign country it just felt weird and slightly unsafe to start the trip. The room looked like the pictures except it was not very clean, dirty floors, stains on the sheets, and I found a used tooth brush in the shower. Usually these things don't bother me and I just contact the front desk, but in this situation there was no front desk to contact to ask them to come tidy up and change the sheets. I contacted them via WhatsApp and they ended up coming up a few hours later to clean up a little. The pool and the views are hard to beat but they were very busy. All in all I got what I paid for but knowing what I know now I wouldnt book here again.

Easily the worst checkin experience i ever had. Provided all necessary ID and info. but still they couldnt find me in their system. After an hour and a half of pleading they finally gave me my key. I walked over to the elevator and the lights went out. Elevator down. Im on the 42nd floor. The checkin consists of going to a sofa in the lobby with 20 year oldiish ladies on laptops trying to check prople in. A horrendous system considering the price. No signs. I just took my luggage and went elsewhere. Really a terrible experience

Apartment was well kept, aircon and water heater worked well. Security was good for both carpark and guests' access. Tranquil environment for rest except for every morning's prayers between 545 - 615am.

The 51st floor infinity pool was SUPERB!!! The panoramic view of both the Petronas Twin Tower AND the KL Tower was incredible. We LOVED the pool. But when we went up to the pool the security guards gave us a tough time after asking us if we were guest of the Platinum Suites or Face Suites. We felt almost unwanted by them to enter the pool area. The infinity pool was the ONLY reason we booked in to this place. Then after we got to the pool the towel guy would NOT give us a towel saying it's only for the Face Suite guests. It's a great fantastic pool BUT service sucked. What kind of pool do you go to that you are not welcome for a darn towel??? RUDE But the rooms/apartment suites were very clean and modern.

Horrible , the pictures are different from the actual hotel room. They are operating a hotel inside of a hotel. You need to check in with a random person. This is a hotel that is being sublet through an another management company. Mold in shower . Holes in ceiling
