Absolutely could not fault the staff. The room was clean and we enjoyed being close to York St John University and the shopping hub of the city centre. The food was okay although at breakfast there was sometimes bits missing or run out- no hot water for tea, run out of sausages, etc…. The staff were very attentive and the little texts to check in on us during our stay were lovely.

We were put in a room that had no Wifi, no air conditioning and a fan. We were offered to move rooms, however, we were only there for 2 nights and this would take away from our time in York. Location is amazing!! Breakfast was ok, very crowded and hard to get coffee due to how close the coffee machine was to the buffet. Speciality coffee wasn't working on the second morning.

We checked into the DoubleTree by Hilton York on 30th August 2025. We were allocated room 52 which is a duplex. The room was dingy, dirty with only half the lights working and slash marks on the wall. We went to the front desk and were allocated room 36 instead, but told to keep 52 for the water because the hot water was off in 36 In 52 there was no plug for the bath, the desk gave us one. On the evening of 30th August I got a call from the hotel saying it was a miscommunication about keeping room 52 and they needed it back. I said that we had originally booked that room for the bath as my husband can't fit in the showers. The manager asked that we keep 36 for the night and change again the next day. In the morning, accessing the bathroom in 36 we saw the appalling state of it. Mildew all over the shower, toilet and sink not attached to the wall, plugs hanging off, paint falling off the ceiling and all over the already dirty floor. I have photos and videos of this. We got out and went for breakfast where the staff there were loudly commenting on how much people had eaten and how fat they were. The front desk (who were fantastic by the way) changed our room again, to an actual clean one. All of this took a day and a half of our 2 day break and was so stressful and disappointing. On checking out we were given 25000 Hilton honors points as compensation. The hotel made the account, which was immediately hacked and someone changed the email connected to it and stole the points.

The staff were friendly enough but there are a distinct lack of facilities i.e room service and no welcome pack to provide any details i.e wi-fi or local amenities, the food was untried so i can not comment on that but the room was needing some tlc, wardrobe door handles and drawer handles with parts missing and shower screen with poorly fitting seals made for a very wet bathroom floor, also i think having to ask reception for a shower/bath mat is a bit much, the cast iron bath although a nice feature is slippy as without one

Very disappointing for a Hilton Hotel. Have stayed in quite a few and this was by far the worst. Reception area was very nice. Because my booking was not sent through to the hotel we had to wait for in excess of 1.5 hours until Expedia and the hotel agreed that I had paid in advance. Because of this I was upgraded to a suite which I felt like it dated back to the 90’s. The curtains and netts were not fixed properly. The carpet was stained, the toilet flush was difficult to use, only certain channels worked on the tv and the whole bedroom and bathroom needed to to fully refurbished. All in all certainly not a hotel I will revisit. Only one plus side was that the location was spot on

I was given a room on first floor , but then discovered I had 3 more flights of stairs to get into my loft style room ,the air conditioning couldn't cool the room down and it was very uncomfortable even with a fan.

Brilliant location for York. Room was clean, tidy and spacious for 2 people. Air con was not working, but fans provided by reception. We did manage to secure parking, but there is limited parking first come first serve. Make sure you look up back up options and don't rely on the hotel parking. I would definitely stay here again, highly reccomend.

It’s seen better days. The room I stayed in was very rundown. I was constantly disturbed on the Sunday night by rowdy guests in and out of rooms on my corridor - the doors are the type that slam themselves shut. The reception and breakfast areas are well-maintained, the staff were polite and the breakfast was fairly extensive and very nice.

We were in the Townhouse next door. Wifi not available, aircon broken, room was hot and very noisy, and noisier if windows are open as it is right on the street. Breakfast was just okay. Staff were friendly and mostly helpful. I would not stay here again. I expected better from Hilton.
