DoubleTree by Hilton York

All staff went above and beyond. Room was ready early and we were allowed to check in when we arrived. We were given warm cookies on arrival which was a nice touch. Room was spacious, clean, and had everything you could need including tea, coffee, iron, toiletries, etc. the room had a heater and aircon and so the temp of the room was perfect for us. breakfast was amazing and again staff couldn’t be any more helpful. We will definitely be returning!

Room lay out and height was ridiculous and clear signs that other guests had collided with the sloped roof. I’m 5’4” and had to bend to avoid bashing my head to get into bed!! Not acceptable for a room charge of £171. 2. Room was cold, no heating and heater provided was ineffective 3. No blinds or curtains on the window!! It’s a bedroom!! Bathroom light and extractor fan were on the same switch so the noisy extractor continued to run 6 mins after the light was turned off. As if that wasn’t bad enough from our room you could hear the extractor fan running in the other rooms above and beside us! We had required a dog friendly room , but this should still be a decent functional room at the price point offered We left early before 7am having been awake throughout the night ( light and extractor) and couldn’t speak to anyone as the desks were empty!!. We dropped the key in the express checkout and left. I would like a response from the hotel and to be honest a refund as this was an unacceptable nights stay. I look forward to hearing from you.

Fantastic location for York City, the room was fine but would have preferred a standard rather than disability access type.

Where to even begin with this hotel? I honestly cannot believe it is part of the Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand. The entire property feels stuck in the 1990s, and I now fully understand why it has so many poor reviews. It is, unfortunately, among the worst-rated hotels in York — and our experience reflects exactly why. We were assigned Room 74, located outside across the parking area and up two narrow flights of stairs, which made carrying luggage extremely difficult. The room was directly above the delivery bays for the bars. On both mornings of our two-night stay, we were woken at approximately 6:45am by loud banging from brewery deliveries, along with noise from the housekeeping storage area below. Sleeping beyond sunrise was virtually impossible. The décor throughout is stained, tired, and outdated. The rooms are in urgent need of full refurbishment. While the location is good, parking is extremely limited and charged at £25 per day, which feels excessive given the overall standard of the property and I suspect staff have first pick over the bays. Breakfast was another major disappointment. There was simply not enough food for the number of guests Nerys, who was replenishing items, appeared overwhelmed and was openly snapping at guests who politely asked about missing basics, responding with remarks such as, “THEY’LL BE READY WHEN THEY’RE READY!” Avoid

Room tired. EV parking taken up by cars that weren't charging, had to relocate car and adjust plans.

The room, hotel location and staff were great but on our last night, the people in the room next to ours were rowdy drunk and thoughtless, even attempting to get into our room at 5am!!! Considering ew had an 18 month old with us its not surprising we were glad to check out!

The hotel was nice. Staff were helpful and friendly. Lack of parking though, although a carpark wasn't too far

The pillows are uncomfortably lumpy so I woke up with a stiff neck, the heater/air con was sooooo noisy that I had to turn it off & the room then became unbearably hot!! A really poor nights sleep was had

Room very neglected and run down . Sofa bed soiled, rotten window frames

We stayed in room 52 if you are given this room my advice is immediately ask to be moved. Ridiculously small room with dangerously low ceiling. Desperately in need of a clean and renovation, blood on walls and carpet, rotting bath panel and shelves hanging off the wall. Barely enough room to move around the bedroom area without hitting your shins on the bed corner while needing to remember to duck to avoid hitting your head on the roof sticking out. Honestly not sure how the hotel can justify this as a double room for the rate charged.

Staff excellent

Room stank, dirty carpets, lipstick on tea mugs, mouldy bathroom,window didnt open, aircon didnt work, couldnt get hold of staff to assist.. booked on the back of the Hilton reputation, last time for me.

Room 28, no heating and portable

Our first room was being redecorated our second room the heating would not work and it was freezing then our third room we was miss directed to nice staff but very poor check in

Staff at hotel were amazing . Room was very spacious and clean.. Breakfast was very nice. Hotel is in a great location for exploring York. Would highly recommend this hotel.

The room (130) is simply too noisy to sleep in at night and I don't think you should make it available to guests without sorting out the sound proofing. We could hear everything outside the window. Cars waiting at traffic lights, bikes revving, people playing music, sirens. It fell well. below the standard I would expect of a DoubleTree or even a Travelodge for that matter

room was nice. only issues were having to find everything, towels would have been better in the bathroom rather than in a wardrobe and the same for the kettle. Also for a premium room a coffee pod machine would have been nice rather than instant nescafé, some coffee bags as a minimum. Air con had to be turned off as blew in face at night , positioning of this unit could have been better. parking steep at £25 a night

Clean & spacious room. Good location. Friendly staff. Parking was expensive though (but then seems to be the norm in York).

Room was very dark, ok for one night but wouldn’t have wanted to stay any longer. Great location but needed better lighting and a new carpet
