Highly recommended!! The hotel is very clean, and what I love about the Aston Group is that they offer refillable drinking water. So you don't have to worry about bringing water from outside. Plus, the location is very strategic, just a short walk to DP Mall and lots of delicious food nearby.

As a repeat guest, I chose Hotel Neo Candi Simpang Lima Semarang again and was not disappointed. I stayed on July 21–22, 2026, in a Superior Premiere Room, which included breakfast for two. I originally came to Semarang for treatment at Dr. Kariadi General Hospital, but because the doctor was suddenly on leave, I ended up taking advantage of the time for a staycation at the hotel. The service was very friendly and professional from check-in. I also received a surprise welcome pizza from the hotel, which was an added bonus and made my stay even more memorable. The room was clean and comfortable, with a soft bed, very cool air conditioning, fast and stable Wi-Fi, and a Smart TV. The view from the room was also very beautiful, even with a mountain view, which made the atmosphere even more relaxing. Breakfast was quite delicious with a variety of menu options. The hotel's location is also very strategic, close to Dr. Kariadi General Hospital, various tourist attractions in Semarang, the Superindo Supermarket (which is integrated with the hotel), and many cafes and restaurants nearby. Although it's still more convenient to get to these places by car, access is very easy. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay. This hotel offers excellent service, complete facilities, comfortable rooms, and a strategic location. It's highly recommended for business, medical treatment, or a staycation with family or friends. Thank you to the entire team at Hotel Neo Candi Simpang Lima Semarang. Top Markotop! I will definitely stay again.

Loved staying here. I booked a Deluxe Twin Bed Non Smoking room. The location is behind DP Mall, a 5-minute walk to Lawang Sewu, a 5-minute drive to Simpang Lima. Strategic location to everywhere, nice room, large bed fits 2 adults and 2 children with plenty of space. The shower water outlet is large, hot water is okay. The room is soundproof from the outside. The staff are very good, fast. The restaurant is not too big, the food choices are also not too many but no problem, the taste is quite good. I stayed 3 nights so far satisfied, I will recommend if anyone wants to go to Semarang. Thank you Awann Sewu.

More about hotels in Bergas

Bergas: A Gateway to Indonesian Charm and Value

For the discerning Filipino traveller seeking an international adventure that balances cultural richness with affordability, Bergas emerges as a compelling Indonesian destination. Unlike the more heavily touristed hubs, Bergas offers a more authentic glimpse into Indonesian life, blending historical echoes with modern conveniences. It’s a place where the pace of life allows for genuine discovery, from exploring local markets brimming with unique crafts to savouring regional delicacies that tell a story of the archipelago. This city provides a refreshing alternative for those looking to experience Indonesia beyond the usual postcards, offering a nuanced perspective on its diverse heritage.

The true allure of Bergas lies in its varied urban fabric, a mosaic of distinct neighbourhoods each offering a unique flavour. From the bustling commercial centres of Randusari and Pekunden to the more serene residential enclaves like Candisari and Pandansari, the city presents a spectrum of experiences. Gajahmungkur offers a blend of urban convenience and green spaces, while Pleburan buzzes with local activity. Jagalan provides a glimpse into traditional life, and the outskirts of Ungaran hint at natural beauty. Understanding these differences is key, as choosing where to base yourself in Bergas will profoundly shape your entire journey, from daily commutes to the types of local interactions you’ll encounter.

Bergas presents an exceptional value proposition for international travellers, particularly those from the United States, Europe, and India. With average nightly rates for hotels starting around ₱1,197.61, it offers a significantly more accessible price point compared to many Southeast Asian capitals. This affordability extends to dining and local transportation, allowing visitors to stretch their travel budgets further. For travellers accustomed to higher costs in their home countries or even in other popular tourist destinations, Bergas promises a rich experience without the financial strain, making it an attractive option for extended stays or for those looking to explore more of Indonesia on a budget.

The accommodation landscape in Bergas mirrors its diverse appeal, offering options to suit every preference and budget. From the well-regarded GKJ Ungaran Pep. Setro, known for its comfortable amenities and local charm, to The Wujil Resort & Conventions, which provides a more expansive resort experience with convention facilities, the city caters to a wide range of needs. These establishments, alongside numerous others, form the backbone of Bergas's hospitality sector, ensuring that travellers can find a suitable base for their explorations. For those ready to plan their trip, the opportunity to book hotel rooms that align with their expectations is readily available.

Bergas is a destination that speaks to a variety of international travellers. For those from the United States and Europe, it offers a chance to delve into a less-trodden path of Indonesian culture, with opportunities for historical exploration and appreciating local artistry. Indian travellers will find familiar culinary influences and a welcoming atmosphere, coupled with excellent value for money that allows for deeper immersion. While direct travel from Africa might be less common, the city’s accessibility and affordability make it an attractive stopover or a destination for those seeking a rich cultural exchange within Southeast Asia, providing a unique blend of experiences that resonate with a global audience.

Exploring local markets and food courts will provide a wide array of choices, ensuring a satisfying culinary journey.

The cost of dining in Bergas offers remarkable value for international visitors. This affordability allows travellers to indulge in a variety of culinary experiences without significant financial strain.

Cultural Norms and Staying Safe in Bergas

Understanding and respecting local customs is paramount for a smooth and enriching visit to Bergas. While English is spoken in tourist areas, learning a few basic Bahasa Indonesia phrases like "Terima kasih" (Thank you) and "Sama-sama" (You're welcome) will be met with warmth and gratitude.

When visiting religious sites or more traditional areas in Bergas, modest dress is essential. This typically means covering your shoulders and knees. Safety in Bergas is comparable to many other major cities in Indonesia, with common sense precautions being the most effective strategy. Keep your valuables secure and be aware of your surroundings, particularly in crowded markets or on public transport. For transportation, using reputable ride-hailing apps like Grab or Gojek is highly recommended, as they offer transparent pricing and driver information, providing a safer alternative to unmetered taxis. Downloading offline maps and essential travel apps on your smartphone can also be invaluable for navigation and communication, especially if you venture into areas with less reliable mobile data.

In case of emergencies in Bergas, the general emergency number for police and ambulance is 112. For specific tourist assistance, local police stations are usually equipped to help. The nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate in Indonesia is located in Jakarta, which can provide consular assistance to Filipino citizens. Getting to Bergas and Getting Around

For Filipino travellers planning a trip to Bergas, the journey typically begins with a flight from major Philippine hubs like Manila (NAIA/MNL) or Cebu (CEB) to an international airport serving the region, most commonly Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Denpasar, Bali, or Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) in Jakarta, followed by a domestic connection. Direct flights to cities closer to Bergas are less common, so expect at least one layover. Flight durations can range from 8 to 15 hours or more, depending on the layover. Prices for round-trip tickets can vary significantly, but budget around ₱15,000 to ₱30,000 or more, especially if booked in advance. It is highly recommended to book flight tickets well in advance to secure better fares.

Once you arrive at the main airport serving Bergas, you will have several options for reaching your accommodation and navigating the city. Taxis are readily available, but it's advisable to use metered taxis or reputable ride-hailing services like Grab or Gojek for transparent pricing. These services are widely used and offer a convenient way to get around Bergas and its surrounding areas. For a more local experience, consider using the city's public buses, although they can be crowded and routes might be confusing for first-time visitors. Renting a scooter is also popular for those comfortable with local traffic conditions, offering flexibility and a sense of adventure.

The best time to visit Bergas generally aligns with Indonesia's dry season, which typically runs from May to September. During these months, you can expect sunny days and lower humidity, making it ideal for outdoor exploration and sightseeing. The shoulder months of April and October can also offer pleasant weather with fewer crowds and potentially lower hotel prices. The wet season, from November to March, brings higher rainfall and humidity, which might affect travel plans, though prices for accommodation and flights are often lower during this period, offering a budget-friendly alternative for resilient travellers.

Before you depart for Bergas, ensure you have a few essentials sorted. The local currency is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). While major credit cards are accepted in hotels and larger establishments, carrying some cash is essential for markets, street food, and smaller vendors.
