Check-in was on time at 2 PM. The connecting room was as requested. The cleanliness and comfort of the room were excellent. The images on this platform and the actual room were very accurate, and you could see the city lights of Surabaya. The hotel staff were friendly and ready to help. Highly recommended for traveling with a large family, especially those with children. I will stay here again on my next trip.

The room is quite spacious, but the maintenance is lacking. I got a room with broken tiles in the corners. The bathroom lights were dim, the kettle lid was loose, and the card holder in the room was also loose. The AC wasn't cold enough for Surabaya's temperature, in my opinion. And the bathroom shower is only upstairs, so it's a bit of a hassle if you just use it to wash your feet. You have to wait a while for hot water. The location is close to everything.

I am surprised by the room insulations (compared to the same rate category). Rain showers are really good: water pressure, etc. The location is very strategic. Breakfast was okay, tastes great but has limited options. But that is the standard of this level of hotel.

I've stayed at the Grand Darmo several times and have never had any issues, so I'm quite confident in the quality of this hotel. A few days ago, I booked three rooms and were all on the same floor, which was very convenient. However, one of our rooms (no. 7201, if I'm not mistaken, in front of the elevator) had a serious problem with the door handle. The door wouldn't open from either the outside or the inside. My husband reported it to the front desk, and a technician came to force the door open. The door was jammed from the start, so we had to force it open. After the repair, the door jammed again and wouldn't open again. We contacted the front desk again, and the technician came back to fix it. The technician had been back and forth to our room about three or four times since check-in to fix the door handle issue. When I asked if there was a solution, such as moving rooms, we were told that other rooms were full. Even though the OTA still showed available rooms. Okay, no problem, as long as the door issue doesn't continue, I thought. The worst part was, the next morning, when I had to take my child to an early event, I left my phone in the room and couldn't open the door from the outside. The receptionist helped me go upstairs, but it still wouldn't open, requiring a manual key and more technician assistance. Even when I left the room, the technician was still working on repairs. Unfortunately, my husband wasn't offered a room change until the next morning at reception, after all this had happened. This offer felt too late, considering the problem had been recurring since check-in. This experience was quite unfortunate: my child was late for the event, and the whole family panicked early in the morning, having to use a motorbike taxi to take the child to the venue. Hopefully, in the future, the hotel can ensure the room is truly ready for use and provide a quicker solution for customer convenience.
