In terms of ambiance, I can give it an excellent rating. Staff were very accommodating, especially Miss Phine. Rooms are clean, location is great because it's near Camp John Hay, and it has an excellent coffee shop also.

Location: Perfect. Because it's near Burnham Park, Good Taste restaurant, Foam Coffee, Harrison Street, Baguio Night Market, Session Road, Vizco's, Baguio Cathedral, sm baguio. Also, beside it, is a grocery store.💯. Food: Perfect. Because you can get as much as what you can consume. They served garlic rice, steamed rice, scrambled eggs, dried fish, hotdogs, pork steak, breads and jams, coffee, juice, salad and fruits.💯. Room: Good. Because I'm not sure if other parts of the room is clean. But definitely the bathroom needs to be scrubbed. The AC unit was loud from time to time. And, there's no room slippers provided. Also, they need to change their old towels, and their busted lights as well. Good thing their bed linens and comforters are clean. Staffs: Perfect. (Even if my request was not followed.) Front desk ladies were kind and accommodating. Every staff we see greets us politely.💯. Thank you, Hotel Veniz Burnham!

The local police can be reached at their emergency numbers, and tourist police units may be available in key areas. For urgent medical needs, local hospitals and clinics are equipped to handle various situations. It's also wise for travellers to have the contact details for their respective embassies or consulates in the Philippines, should any serious issues arise. For Filipino travellers, familiarizing oneself with DFA advisories and having contact information for relevant government agencies like OWWA can be beneficial.

Getting to Baguio City Proper and Getting Around

Reaching Baguio City Proper from major hubs within the Philippines is a common travel route for many Filipinos and international visitors. Flights from Manila (NAIA/MNL) to Clark International Airport (CRK) are frequent, followed by a comfortable bus or van ride to Baguio City Proper, typically taking around 4-5 hours. Alternatively, direct bus services from Metro Manila terminals to Baguio City Proper are also available, offering a more direct but longer journey of about 6-8 hours. Travellers from Cebu (CEB) would typically fly into Manila first before proceeding. Booking your flight in advance is recommended, especially during peak seasons.

Once you arrive in Baguio City Proper, navigating the city is relatively straightforward. Jeepneys are the most common and affordable mode of public transport, serving various routes throughout the city. Taxis are also abundant and reasonably priced, offering a more direct and comfortable option for travellers, especially those with luggage. For a unique local experience, try a "kalesa" (horse-drawn carriage) for short distances in certain areas. Ride-hailing apps like Grab are also operational, providing convenience and transparent pricing for your journeys within the city.

The best time to visit Baguio City Proper is generally during the dry season, from November to May, when the weather is cooler and less prone to rain. This period coincides with peak tourist season, so expect larger crowds and potentially higher hotel prices. For those who prefer a quieter experience and don't mind occasional drizzles, the wet season from June to October can offer lush green landscapes and lower accommodation rates. Consider aligning your visit with local festivals like the Panagbenga Festival in February for a vibrant cultural experience.

Before departing for Baguio City Proper, ensure you have the local currency, Philippine Peso (PHP), readily available. While major establishments may accept credit cards, smaller vendors and local transport often require cash. Consider purchasing a local SIM card upon arrival for affordable data access, which is useful for navigation apps and communication. Essential apps to download include Google Maps for navigation, a translation app if needed, and ride-hailing applications. Having a printed copy of your hotel booking and identification is always a good practice. Use Traveloka to find the best flights — book flight.

You are permitted to travel freely within the Philippines. However, it is always recommended to carry a valid government-issued ID for identification purposes, especially when checking into hotels or making significant purchases. Ensure your passport has sufficient validity, though for domestic travel, this is less critical than for international journeys.

For foreign nationals intending to visit the Philippines to reach Baguio City Proper, visa requirements vary by nationality. Many nationalities, including those from the US, Europe, India, and Africa, can enter the Philippines visa-free for tourism purposes for a specific period, typically 30 days. However, it is crucial to verify the exact visa-free duration and any specific entry requirements applicable to your passport. This may include presenting a return or onward ticket and proof of sufficient funds for your stay.

Policies regarding entry into the Philippines can change, and it is the responsibility of each traveller to confirm the latest visa regulations with the official immigration authority of the Philippines or the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate in their country of residence before booking any flights.
