My room was super clean and surrounded by wildlife. I also booked a treatment at the Waldheim spa as well as two times the private sanctuary (at it was just stunning). The crew over there was so so nice. Especially Senna who gave me lots of nice recommendations about the area and north east of tassie. A wonderful and absolutely unexpected breathtaking stay! I also loved that you can spot platypuses in the lake at the lodge.

1. Precheck in was technically flawed. On a phone it required an impossible signature and on a laptop the url didn't work. 2.There was a bat colony in our room and the staff were unable/unwilling to remove them. I removed 4 over 2 nights finally getting to bed at 11.30. 3. The tap was leaking. 4. Internet only at reception not in our room. Extraordinary meanness in a quality hotel. 5. This was the most expensive hotel in our trip to Tasmania and it was not value for money. Overall this was a poor experience and not to be recommended.

The room was disgusting, blow flies dead and alive, smelly with terrible rotten odour. No air conditioning, no tv, no wifi, no phone, no hair dryer, no fly screens. My wife in a wheelchair could not leave the room due to soft gravel and pot holes to access reception. Restaurant was closed (Sat night). We refused to stay and left after 30 minutes and drove to peppers silos in Launceston where we were greeted and treated with good typical Tasmanian hospitality. For a thousand dollars a night I feel we were totally ripped off. A total refund and apology is the least we can expect but would still not protect the unsuspecting guests that may stay there in the future.

The pictures are misleading - it is not 'lakeside', they have a small pond on site. Location is great, with many nice treks starting from the hotel and super great location for cradle mountain. Other than that, nothing to shout about. The cabins are very simple, definitely not a 4 star resort.

Highland restaurant good but pricey. Breakfast was good. Shout out to Bryan (front desk), Hannah and Mattias(?) on food service who all made it very pleasant. Laundry was available and used - great if you are touring. Room in a cabin away from the main building. Good size with free wine and crisps. Bathroom a bit dated. Hotel has an exceptional position and the “Enchanted walk” was great wombats, platypus and wallabies all in action around the hotel. Not 5 star but I would definitely go back if walking in the Cradle NP again.
