We loved our stay at the Hoxton. Room was clean, comfy, lovely decor. The whole hotel was lovely and cute with quirky decor. We didn't use the pool but went up for a look and it seemed great. The hotel is located very close to all the main tourist spots in Vienna- we were about a 20 min walk to most of the museums, cafes, restaurants. Perfect location for a city break. There is also a Gourmet Spar right behind the hotel which was perfect for picking up snacks, water, pastries, sandwiches etc.

Overview of The Hoxton, Vienna

The Hoxton, Vienna occupies a striking 1950s modernist building on Rudolf-Sallinger-Platz in Landstrasse, Vienna's third district, and its design leans into that heritage. The hotel's official site describes its 196 rooms as rooted in the history and quirkiness of the neighbourhood and the mid-century building, with touches of early 20th-century Austrian design worked into each room category. Up top, a rooftop pool and a Cuban-inspired bar give the property a feature that few hotels on the edge of the Innere Stadt can claim, while the ground floor is given over to a modern lobby bistro.

Traveloka's listing classes The Hoxton, Vienna as a 4-star hotel and records 2023 as its built year, with a total inventory of 196 rooms. The property was previously listed on Traveloka as The Hoxton Vienna, so travellers searching under either name will find the same hotel. Its official channels sit under The Hoxton brand site, which is the best place to confirm details such as event bookings.

The location suits sightseeing on foot. According to Traveloka's listing data, Stadtpark is roughly 0.4 km away, the Konzerthaus about 0.5 km, Schwarzenbergplatz about 0.6 km and the Belvedere about 0.6 km, while Stephansplatz and St. Stephen's Cathedral sit around 1.1 to 1.2 km to the north-west. That puts much of central Vienna within a 15-minute walk, while the hotel itself faces Rudolf-Sallinger-Platz rather than one of the main shopping streets.

Other details worth knowing up front:

  • Address: Rudolf Sallinger Platz 1, Gemeindebezirk Landstrasse, 1030 Vienna, Austria
  • Star rating: 4 stars (Traveloka listing)
  • Rooms: 196
  • Check-in / check-out: from 14:00 / until 12:00
  • Front desk: staffed 24 hours
  • Welcome policy: the property describes itself as LGBTQ+ friendly

Room Types at The Hoxton, Vienna

The official Hoxton site sorts the 196 rooms into five categories that climb in size from a compact single to a spacious super king. All of them carry the brand's playful category names, and every category is marked as dog friendly on the official site. Sizes below are the ranges published by the hotel; the exact room you are allocated within a category can vary, so check the room description on the Traveloka page before you confirm.

Shoebox

The entry-level Shoebox measures roughly 12.7 to 13.1 square metres and has a single bed, so it is designed for one adult. It is the natural pick for solo business travellers or anyone who simply needs a well-designed base for a short city break and plans to spend most of the day out exploring Vienna.

Snug

The Snug steps up to around 15.1 to 15.6 square metres with a queen bed for two adults and a walk-in shower. It is a compact double that works well for couples who travel light and want a central address without paying for floor space they will not use.

Cosy

Cosy rooms span approximately 17.3 to 19.6 square metres with a queen bed for two adults. The official site highlights walk-in showers and natural light, which makes this category a comfortable middle ground for a stay of several nights.

Cosy Neighbourhood

The Cosy Neighbourhood room shares the same footprint of about 17.3 to 19.6 square metres and the same queen bed, but adds street views over the surrounding Landstrasse neighbourhood. The hotel lists an open wardrobe and a rainfall shower for this category. Choose it if you like to look out over local street life rather than an inner aspect.

Roomy

At around 26.6 square metres, Roomy is the largest category on the official site and is described as spacious, light and airy. It sleeps two adults and comes with either a super king bed or two single beds, so it is the one to book if you are two friends or colleagues sharing and want separate beds.

Across the categories, the official site lists WiFi, a kettle with tea, coffee, water and milk, a mini fridge, a hair dryer, a safe, a TV, a Roberts radio, a phone with free international calls, adjustable air conditioning and blackout curtains, with a steamer and hypoallergenic bedding available on request. Traveloka's listing adds flat-screen televisions with satellite channels, bathrooms with rainfall showerheads and complimentary toiletries, laptop-compatible safes and complimentary bottled water. Note that Traveloka's policy data states that cribs and rollaway or extra beds are not available, so families with infants should plan accordingly.

Facilities and Amenities

The headline facility at The Hoxton, Vienna is on the roof. Traveloka's listing records a swimming pool, a rooftop terrace and a poolside bar, and the official site confirms the rooftop pool sits alongside Cayo Coco, a rooftop bar inspired by the golden age of travel to Cuba. Pool access hours are set by the hotel and can change by season, so check them on arrival.

Key facilities and services drawn from the Traveloka listing and the official site:

  • Rooftop pool and terrace with a poolside bar
  • Free WiFi throughout the property, as listed on Traveloka
  • 24-hour front desk and an elevator
  • Event spaces: The Auditorium, which the hotel says can accommodate over 200 people, plus a smaller space called The Apartment
  • Business facilities as listed on Traveloka
  • Accessibility: an accessible bathroom, an accessible path of travel and disabled-access-friendly features
  • Smoke-free areas
  • Parking: available nearby for a fee, according to the Traveloka policy data

There is no on-site gym, according to the official site, which points guests towards a fitness partner a short walk away instead. If a workout is essential, check the current arrangement with the front desk.

Pets are another area where this hotel stands out among central Vienna properties. Traveloka's policy data notes that dogs and cats are allowed, and the official site labels every room category as dog friendly, although dogs are not permitted in some of the bars. Confirm any pet-related conditions with the property before you travel. The hotel accepts credit cards, mobile payments and cash, and government-issued photo ID plus a card or cash deposit may be requested at check-in for incidental charges.

Location and Getting There

The Hoxton, Vienna sits in Landstrasse, the district immediately south-east of the Ringstrasse. The official site places it about a 10-minute walk from Wien Mitte station, about a 4-minute walk from the nearest metro station and roughly a 30-minute walk or 10-minute taxi ride from Vienna Main Station (Hauptbahnhof).

Nearby landmarks, with approximate distances from Traveloka's listing:

  • Stadtpark-Kinderpark: about 0.2 km
  • University of Music and Performing Arts: about 0.4 km
  • Stadtpark: about 0.4 km
  • Konzerthaus: about 0.5 km
  • Schwarzenbergplatz: about 0.6 km
  • Belvedere: about 0.6 km
  • Botanical Garden of the University of Vienna: about 0.7 km
  • Ronacher theatre, Ringstrassen Galerien and the Vienna Music Society (Musikverein): about 0.8 km each
  • Karlsplatz: about 0.9 km; St. Charles Church: about 1 km
  • Stephansplatz and St. Stephen's Cathedral: about 1.1 to 1.2 km

Vienna International Airport (VIE) is about 19 km away according to Traveloka, and the official site estimates around 25 minutes by taxi. Wien Mitte is also the city terminus of the City Airport Train, which makes the rail link a practical alternative for travellers with light luggage. Flying in from Singapore usually involves a connection via a European or Middle Eastern hub, so you can compare flights to Vienna on Traveloka before locking in your hotel dates.

Once you are here, walking and public transport cover most of what visitors want to see. The Belvedere and its gardens are a short stroll to the south, the concert halls around Karlsplatz and Schwarzenbergplatz are within easy reach for evening performances, and the Ringstrasse puts the State Opera and the old town a little further on foot.

Dining at and near The Hoxton, Vienna

Food and drink at the hotel is spread over three distinct spaces, each with its own mood. The official site lists:

  • Bouvier: the modern lobby bistro, also named in Traveloka's listing as the place to enjoy a meal on site
  • Cayo Coco: the rooftop bar beside the pool, inspired by the golden age of travel to Cuba
  • Salon Paradise: an underground cocktail bar

Breakfast is served as a buffet daily from 7:00 to 10:30, according to Traveloka's listing, and is charged separately unless your chosen rate includes it. Room service is available during limited hours, and a bar or lounge provides a place to unwind at the end of the day.

Beyond the hotel, the location puts you close to some classic Viennese experiences. Stadtpark is a pleasant spot for a morning walk, while the area around Karlsplatz and the Ringstrasse has plenty of cafes and restaurants within roughly a kilometre. If you want to plan your time around food tours, concerts or palace visits, browse things to do and attractions in Vienna on Traveloka and book ahead for popular slots.

Why Stay at The Hoxton, Vienna

Plenty of Vienna hotels trade on imperial grandeur, but The Hoxton, Vienna offers a different kind of character: a mid-century modernist building, rooms that nod to Austrian design history, and a rooftop pool and bar that become the centre of the hotel in warmer months. Here is why it suits many travellers from Singapore:

  • Walkable to the classics: the Belvedere, Stadtpark, the Konzerthaus and the Musikverein are all within about a kilometre.
  • Easy airport connections: Wien Mitte and its City Airport Train are around a 10-minute walk away.
  • A room for every trip type: five categories run from a single Shoebox to the twin-or-super-king Roomy.
  • Something to do in the evening: a bistro and two bars under one roof, including an underground cocktail bar.
  • Pet-friendly: rooms are marked as dog friendly by the hotel, and Traveloka lists dogs and cats as allowed.
  • Inclusive welcome: the property describes itself as LGBTQ+ friendly.

It is also a sensible choice for event-goers, since The Auditorium and The Apartment give the hotel its own meeting and event spaces. Whether you are combining a conference with sightseeing or planning a wider European itinerary, you can map out the whole trip from the Traveloka homepage.

Tips for Booking The Hoxton, Vienna on Traveloka

  1. Match the room to your party: the Shoebox is for one adult only; choose Snug, Cosy or Cosy Neighbourhood for couples, and Roomy if you need two single beds.
  2. Plan for no extra beds: Traveloka's policy data notes that cribs and rollaway beds are not available, so book a room that fits everyone from the start.
  3. Check what your rate includes: breakfast is charged separately on many rates, so compare a room-only option against one with breakfast included.
  4. Mind the clock: check-in starts at 14:00 and check-out is by 12:00; if you land early, the front desk is staffed 24 hours and can advise on luggage.
  5. Bring ID and a payment card: photo identification and a card or cash deposit may be requested at check-in.
  6. Travelling with a pet: mention it in your booking request and confirm the conditions directly with the property.
  7. Driving: parking is nearby rather than on site and carries a daily fee, so factor it in if you are hiring a car.

Special requests are subject to availability on arrival and cannot be guaranteed, so add them early. If you would like to weigh this hotel against other options around Landstrasse, the Innere Stadt or the main station, you can compare more hotels in Vienna on Traveloka and filter by area, star rating and facilities.

Hotel was clean but staff were surly on the front desk when I arrived and departed. I went to have breakfast on my first morning and was told there was no room so had to have it in the lobby where I had to wait ages before anyone came to take my order. All the tables in the lobby had not been cleared so I had to clear the cups away myself so I could make room for my own coffee. Really disappointed by the experience as I had been looking forward to staying there but when staff are moody and look like they don't want to be there, it really impacts the whole atmosphere. We were also told that we were not allowed the use the pool (a main feature of the hotel) as it had been reserved for a hen party! How paying residents are not allowed to use the pool is beyond me.

We stayed for five days. I don't recall the name of the room class we reserved but it wasn't the smallest or the second smallest. Our initial room was VERY small. There was no room to open a suitcase. There was not a separate bathroom but, instead, a toilet in what should have been a closet and a shower in another space that should have been a closet. After the first night, we asked for a different room. The woman at the desk was very gracious and moved us to a room she said was the same class of room. The room was great--space to open suitcases on the floor and a real bathroom. Hard to believe it was the same class of room. The pool and outdoor bar area were too crowded to use. Other than that, everything was fine. We needed to get to a concert and the host at the restaurant said he would open the restaurant 10 minutes early so we would have time to eat. Overall, the hotel was a good deal for what we paid (though I think we were overcharged for our first night's room).

Trendy hotel in a good location. The room was small but had everything you need. The pool was really busy during the heat wave. I wish they put out more towels and cleaned the area throughout the day. But the view was amazing and the rooftop bar was a nice touch!

Style without substance: The room. If you like to watch the silhouette your better half ablaut and shower, then this room is for you, if not - avoid! As you can see in the picture, the bed faces the toilet and shower- poor design (should be for single travellers only). Trust. In the morning the helpful receptionist promised a room move that day. Returning from a day out the Hoxton-customer trust was broken when it changed to ‘not possible’?! To add to the poor service, they didn’t initiate a room clean (which had been cancelled due to the promised move). Breakfast - great selection, but poorly organised. After being seated, you have to try to gain someone’s attention to take an order. No one seems to ‘own’ an area of tables and guests, good luck if your coffee arrives, basics… Pool. Fantastic addition, but no seems (again) to be responsible for clearing empty glasses and old towels from beds/tables. On the positive- great rooftop bar and the hotel location is an easy walk to the old centre. Overall, for me in business trust is the key; I, my company and fellow business colleagues, won’t be staying in a Hoxton hotel agin.

The reception desk/ check in was not helpful and even curt at times. No managers seemed to be on the property on a Friday afternoon or front desk did not want to provide their contact info. Room we prepaid for was not available , they gave us a smaller room. Went to rooftop bar and took 50 minutes after ordering for French fries and they were out of several ingredients to make specialty cocktails listed on their menu. Elevator was broken on second day we were there. However, there were a few standout servers downstairs in little lobby bar and restaurant . Also on our last night one of the downstairs Food and beverage people introduced us to their supervisor / mgr and she was kind enough to sit and listen to our complaints. Up to that time most staff had said there were no managers on the property( June 19&20). Also no music in basement as offered even a poster in elevator advertised the music for Friday and Saturday. The venue ( hotel bldg) is nice.

Good place to stay in a good location. Check in staff were very pleasant & helpful. Room was good. Plenty of room & well appointed. Rooftop bar is great, with good views over the city. My only gripe is the breakfast. I went for the cold buffet on 2 days, which was fine. The hot buffet however was cold on the two days I tried it. This really is unforgivable given the overall standard of the hotel.
