What Guests Say About Their Stay

We really enjoyed our time at the West Cliff Hotel. My wife enjoyed the spa day, and we both enjoyed the Afternoon tea. The room was comfortable, with an excellent buffet breakfast.

Beautiful hotel in a perfect location, walking distance from everything you need and the beach too. Staff were pleasant, even though it was clear they were very short staffed, the made sure everyone was happy. Car park on site is also open to the public and small, we were lucky to get a space on a bank holiday. Parking in Bournemouth is scarce and can be expensive keep this in mind when travelling. The room was lovely, we were up in the rafters so did have to climb some stairs, worth booking an accessible room if you cannot do steps. We stayed during a heatwave, it was unbearable outside in the sun, I would recommend more parasols were needed. We were thankful for the AC in the bedroom, this really helped us cool down and get a good sleep. The food was the only slight let down, although they only had one chef in the kitchen that day. The pasta was a bit boring, I have no idea if this is the standard though. The mussels were a tiny portion, ordered a main but looked like a starter. I did question the size with the waiter and he said that’s the normal portion, barely filled half a pot. Overall we would definitely stay again, we didn’t get chance to use the pool or spa so nest time we will definitely book in for treatments.

Rooms was spot on cleaning. Bar staff and restaurant helpful and guide as needed it . Spa staff was great welcome and explained proper all the facilities as been used . Breakfast welcome staff ready to accommodate you . As food buffet the scrambled eggs was overcooked and big suggestion for the future chef need to use probe and not his hand to see if the food is hot big FOUL AS GUEST SEEING THAT . Small improvements can make the hotel nice destination. Receptionists was really great but will require type of bell sometimes took long to show up . Not a complaint, I understand maybe they have another responsibilities.

Overall a good stay. My standard room was located on the 2nd floor with no lift in that part of the hotel. It was compact - suitable for one person but would be tight for two - as I was travelling alone maybe that’s why I was placed there. Two of the three window openings were on safety latches so airflow through the room was limited and with the warm weather it did get extremely hot. Breakfast was self service - there were a range of hot and cold options - hot options were scrambled eggs, beans, hash browns, bacon, sausages, black pudding and toast. A choice of eggs (fried / poached) and mushrooms would have been welcomed. Food in the restaurant was nice. Facilities were good - having a pool, a gym and outdoor enclosed seating area was welcomed. Parking at the hotel was £10 per night - it was ok getting a space on Friday evening but coming back from a day trip on Sunday evening I had to park on a nearby road.
