Thainstone House

Awful food, awful rooms. Dirty hotel. Terrible loud music in bar and restaurant. Bagpipes constantly BLARING

Sadly, this property needs a complete renovation especially the room we were given 111 !! Firstly a very uncomfortable sprung mattress which was moving everytime I turned so one hours sleep in total!, secondly creaking floorboards in the floor above as well as ours and in the corridor where people were banging doors into the small hours!! Finally at 6.30 am I had to wake my husband as the filthy head board was severely tipping towards our heads.. a tragedy waiting to happen…. The utter disgrace was the mess behind the headboard of years of congealed dust!! Scottish hospitality at its worst!! It could be a fabulous place if someone just stepped it up a gear Definitely NOT 4* not even 2 !! Breakfast was really lacklustre with soggy toast, not freshly baked pastries as advertised The manager Gwen wanted to refund our stay saying it was all totally unacceptable but couldn’t as I had booked through Expedia. Expedia please help with this!!

Hotel was lovely but unfortunately nothing like the pictures on their web site the pool area is really dated chose this hotel for the spa facilities and there was no hot tub in use which was disappointing due to the money spent. Had to change room after first night of lack of sleep due to the bed spent the night in the middle as couldn’t get out of it. Would not come back in a hurry

Lovely old building with nicely appointed accommodation. Lovely touches in the rooms, including local snacks and robes. Pool in the Spa was a little on the chilly side but otherwise a great stay!

Thainstone house is like a old fashioned castle style very beautiful stunning lawns and picturesque of beauty .I would recommend this hotel ..should be given six stars staff excellent and friendly.

Last time I stayed here there was no electricity - bad luck. This time it was cold, food was very expensive and the staff were badly trained. A nice hotel going downhill

Lovely setting, comfortable room. The property lacked the polish and refinement we’d (naively?) expected. Inexperienced/poorly trained staff (at check in and checkout, the staff members announced their newness and lack of familiarity with the hotel systems. Desk attendants sitting and having personal conversations as we came and want throughout our stay, not acknowledging us, saying hello, or asking if we were enjoying our stay). No assistance with luggage offered. The Green Lady was a rather sad place. A good room with large windows overlooking the grounds, but a very stale energy at night and during the day. Inexperienced waitstaff. Lackluster food. Zero cocktail game (limited/run of the mill liquor and mixer options, and no cocktail making expertise. Stick to whisky/beer/wine). Would not stay here again.

Room clean but small, bathroom clear but some water damage at front of bath. Tea try good. Bar service very poor, lacking staff. Issues at breakfast needed to queue for approx 30mins, lack of staff

Married here 5 years ago and returned for 5th Anniversary get away, Thainstone House did not disappoint! The hotel is beautifully decorated and well maintained. The staff were all lovely. We ate in the restaurant one night and food was incredible.

Stunning property & surroundings. Vegetarian cooked breakfast was amongst the best I've had.

Thainstone a four star accomodation I am not sure? If lifting your suitcase up 2 flights of stairs, having a view of the room across from yours, some staff that seem indifferent then I guess so. It is a beautiful old manor home that gives you a Downton Abbey feel, just needs some customer service tweeking.

The swimming pool didnt look very appealing

Good place to stay the rooms are great, leisure facilities are a little tired but functional. Restaurant is expensive better off going into town for food
