The staff are the best. There was a problem with booking through a third party, and they were able to smooth it out. There were very thoughtful complimentary water/snacks in the rooms for us. They were under construction when I went and that made parking a little difficult, but we did get a spot. The breakfast was pretty fantastic. I couldn’t get over the view of the loch across the street. The hotel was very nice and we would definitely look this one up again!

We booked a room (apartment ) for one night on our way through town headed to Isle of Skye- we checked in staff was very friendly and polite but let us know our place was offsite at a different building up the road. The room looked nothing like what we saw advertised as their modern fresh looking rooms we saw on line. Place was extremely dated and worn out/ windows had been left open to bring fresh air in and the musty smell out …temporarily. Sadly we did not spend the night there- took us until 9pm to find a place that could accommodate our small family- we asked for a refund in the am with proof (receipt ) we stayed elsewhere but was informed the receptionist had no authority to do so- wish better luck on the next guest.

We would’ve loved a bath but that’s just personal preference. Parking was good as we had spaces outside our apartment. Rooms were clean. Shower was pretty weak pressure wise which wasn’t ideal but the shower area itself was a big area.

Rooms were clean, staffwas courteous enough. The location of hotel is very convenient to reach places and also for food. The hotel is on high street and boat rides are just across the road. There is limited parking infront of hotel. Down sides are on-going construction which make sit a bit noisy during day and also dusty. The suites were behind the main bulding without any lifts, so we had to carry our luggage upstairs without any help from staff. The rooms deco was good. Two downsides were the power shower has very poor pressure and they should consider upgrading the electric shower to one with pumps. Other down side was that the sofa bed was very uncomfortable due to springs from mattress would abutt against the body. Property should consider upgrading that as well. The hot breakfast has only one option for vegetarians and should provide more options for £12 charged. All in all, it was a bittersweet experience. I hope in new ongoing construction work, property will consider some of the suggestions. When we go next time to Fort williams, i will shortlist this place as one of the options but would go for some other if available.

Overall, we had a good stay at The Garrison and most aspects of the hotel were positive. The location is excellent for exploring Fort William, and the main facilities were clean and well presented. Apart from parking, everything else met expectations and the staff were generally helpful. However, there were a few downsides. The single sofa bed was very uncomfortable and not suitable for a good night’s sleep. Also, there was ongoing construction work which started quite early around 8am — this was a bit disruptive, especially if you had the window open as some dust could come into the room. Another small inconvenience was the access to reception. Having to go through multiple doors made it feel less straightforward than it should be, especially when arriving with luggage. Overall, a decent stay with a few areas that could be improved to make the experience much better.

Rooms or shall I say, apartment, was lovely and plenty of space. However, when we went to go to bed and pulled the sheet back on our bed, there were hairs everywhere. So we we had to go down the hill to reception to collect all new bedding, lug it back up the hill and remake our bed. Wouldn’t have been a big issue but we never got an apology over the 4 days we were there. When we checked out we mentioned it again and was told it had been reported to the area manager. Who and where they were we had no idea. Thought this was quite poor given that we were staying so many nights. These are lovely rooms with great views across the loch and right in town so close to all the amenities. They just need to maybe up the staff levels as only ever seem to be one member of staff about, which is why we had to collect our own sheets. I am not faulting the lady we chatted to on reception, just that there should be at least 2 of them so one can attend to guests issues etc. If it hadn’t have been for this it would have been a perfect stay.

We used this hotel as a place to sleep for which it was excellent. About 10 to 15 minute walk from the station which for us was great (when not raining). We didn't have breakfast only because we prefer to sample local cafés of which there are a few very close.

There was a musty smell in the room, likely due to the structure of the shower that fails to contain all the water. There should a light fixture over the sink. The overhead pot lights do not sufficiently illuminate the mirror and sink area.
