Hotel service so impressive. They also provide breakfast to take away and it's not only noodle or rice. There are 3 boxes: 1 box for appetizer (egg, banana, yogurt), 1 box for heavy meal (fried noodle/fried rice) and 1 box for dessert (cakes/buns). Hotel staff always try their best eventhough language barrier. Welcome drink provided and it's nice. Room spacious, clean, and comfortable. Really recommended for tourists.

The overall services are good, from the shuttle bus from HCMC, quick check-in, good food at the restaurant, pool for kids, many places for photo shooting, clean and comfy rooms, my kid liking the corridor way. There are many nice places internally. We also ate out for one dinner at a nearby seafood place, taking a taxi for 10 minutes. Good short 1 night stay for family with kids.

More about hotels in Vietnam

Best Areas to Stay in Vietnam

Vietnam is a country of striking contrasts, where each city and region offers a unique character that can profoundly shape your travel experience. From the busy cityes to tranquil coastal towns and serene highlands, choosing the right base is crucial for unlocking the essence of your Vietnamese adventure. Whether you're a family seeking adventure, a couple on a romantic escape, or a solo explorer eager for discovery, understanding the distinct vibes of different areas will help you tailor your trip to perfection.

Hanoi

Hanoi, the capital, pulses with a captivating blend of old-world charm and modern dynamism. Imagine navigating the labyrinthine streets of the Old Quarter, where centuries-old traditions are alive and well, contrasted with the wide boulevards and colonial architecture that speak of its past. It’s a city that rewards slow exploration, best suited for travellers who appreciate history, culture, and a truly authentic urban experience. Families can find engaging cultural sites, while couples might enjoy romantic strolls around Hoan Kiem Lake, and solo travellers will find endless opportunities for discovery.

From Hanoi, iconic landmarks like the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Temple of Literature are easily accessible. The city is a culinary destination, with street food stalls offering delights like pho and bun cha on almost every corner.

The Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) connects Hanoi to major international hubs, and a comprehensive network of trains and buses allows for seamless travel to other parts of Vietnam, making it an excellent starting point for any itinerary. Exploring the local markets is a fantastic way to spend time in the city's daily life and perhaps book attraction tickets for nearby historical sites.

Da Nang

Da Nang presents a more contemporary face of Vietnam, a rapidly developing coastal city known for its long, sandy beaches and impressive bridges. It offers a relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere, perfect for travellers seeking a balance between beachside relaxation and urban exploration. Families will appreciate the safe swimming conditions and family-friendly resorts, while couples can enjoy romantic sunsets over the East Sea. It's also a great base for those interested in exploring the central region's historical and natural wonders, offering a comfortable and accessible hub.

Key attractions in and around Da Nang include the stunning Marble Mountains, the ancient trading port of Hoi An (a short drive away), and the scenic Hai Van Pass. The city boasts a lively food scene, with fresh seafood being a particular highlight. Da Nang International Airport (DAD) offers direct flights from Singapore and other regional cities, and its central location makes it ideal for exploring both the north and south of Vietnam. The Son Tra Peninsula, with its famous Linh Ung Pagoda, offers panoramic views and a sense of tranquility away from the city centre.

Ho Chi Minh City (District 1)

District 1, the historical and commercial heart of Ho Chi Minh City, is a whirlwind of energy, offering a glimpse into Vietnam's dynamic economic growth and its resilient spirit. This area is ideal for travellers who want to be in the thick of the action, surrounded by colonial architecture, bustling markets, and a thriving nightlife. It's particularly well-suited for solo travellers and couples looking for a vibrant urban experience, with easy access to historical sites, shopping, and a diverse culinary landscape that ranges from street food to fine dining.

Within District 1, visitors can explore landmarks such as the Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Central Post Office. The Ben Thanh Market is worth visiting for souvenirs and local snacks. The city is served by Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN), with numerous flights from Singapore. Navigating the city is convenient with ride-sharing apps and a well-established taxi network. The sheer density of historical significance and modern development makes District 1 a compelling base for understanding Vietnam's past and present.

Mui Ne / Phan Thiet

Mui Ne and the broader Phan Thiet region offer a classic beach holiday experience, renowned for their dramatic sand dunes and coastal charm. This area is perfect for travellers seeking relaxation, water sports, and a slower pace of life compared to the major cities. Families will find resorts with ample space for children to play, while couples can enjoy romantic walks along the beach or kite surfing adventures. It's a destination that truly embodies the tropical allure of Vietnam's coastline.

The main draws here are the Red and White Sand Dunes, offering unique landscapes for photography and adventure activities like sandboarding. The fishing village provides a glimpse into traditional coastal life. While Mui Ne doesn't have its own airport, it's accessible via bus or private transfer from Ho Chi Minh City or closer airports like Lien Khuong Airport (DLI) in Da Lat. The abundance of beachfront resorts and seafood restaurants makes it a popular choice for those looking to unwind by the sea.

Da Lat

Da Lat, set in the Central Highlands, offers a refreshing escape with its cool climate, pine forests, and French colonial architecture. This charming city provides a serene and romantic atmosphere, making it a favourite for couples and travellers seeking a tranquil retreat. Families can enjoy the unique attractions like flower gardens and waterfalls, while solo travellers might appreciate the laid-back vibe and opportunities for hiking and exploring the surrounding countryside. It feels distinctly different from Vietnam's coastal or urban centres.

Highlights in Da Lat include the picturesque Xuan Huong Lake, the historic Bao Dai Summer Palace, and the vibrant Crazy House. The city is also known for its coffee plantations and local produce. While Da Lat has its own airport (DLI), it's also reachable by bus or private car from major cities like Ho Chi Minh City. The cooler weather and picturesque scenery make it a unique destination within Vietnam, offering a different perspective on the country's diverse landscapes and a welcome respite from the tropical heat.

A Culinary Journey Through Vietnam

Vietnam's culinary landscape is a vibrant exploration of fresh ingredients, delicate flavours, and regional specialities that captivate the palate. From the aromatic broth of pho to the crispy perfection of banh mi, the country offers a gastronomic adventure unlike any other. For travellers from Singapore, accustomed to a rich food culture, Vietnam presents a delightful array of tastes and textures that are both familiar in their Southeast Asian roots yet distinctively unique in their preparation and presentation.

The undisputed king of Vietnamese cuisine is **Pho**, a fragrant noodle soup that varies subtly from north to south. In Hanoi, it's often simpler and more peppery, while in the south, it's served with a generous platter of fresh herbs, bean sprouts, and lime.

Another must-try is **Banh Mi**, a French-influenced baguette sandwich filled with a variety of savoury ingredients. For Muslim travellers from Singapore, finding halal options is increasingly feasible, especially in larger cities like Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, where dedicated halal eateries and Muslim-friendly restaurants are becoming more common. It's always advisable to confirm ingredients and preparation methods when dining.

Regional diversity is a hallmark of Vietnamese food. While Hanoi is celebrated for its refined, traditional dishes like Bun Cha and Cha Ca, the central region, particularly around Hue, is known for its imperial cuisine – intricate, flavourful dishes often served in smaller portions. Further south, Ho Chi Minh City offers a more robust and sweeter flavour profile, with influences from its cosmopolitan history. Coastal areas like Nha Trang and Mui Ne are, naturally, seafood havens, offering the freshest catches prepared in myriad delicious ways.

When dining in Vietnam, embracing the local customs enhances the experience. Meals are typically communal, with dishes shared amongst diners. Tipping is not mandatory but is appreciated for exceptional service, usually a small amount. Street food is a significant part of the culinary scene; look for stalls with high turnover, indicating freshness and popularity. While many vendors speak some English, learning a few basic Vietnamese phrases for ordering food can be helpful and is always appreciated by locals. Expect meal prices to be very affordable, especially for street food and local eateries.

Cultural Norms and Staying Safe in Vietnam

Navigating the cultural nuances of Vietnam can greatly enrich your travel experience. While Vietnamese people are generally welcoming and hospitable, understanding a few key etiquette points can help you avoid unintentional faux pas. For instance, it's customary to use both hands when giving or receiving items, especially from elders or in formal situations. When visiting someone's home, bringing a small gift is a thoughtful gesture. Public displays of affection are generally subdued, and it's advisable to dress modestly when visiting religious sites.

When visiting temples, pagodas, or other religious sites, it is essential to dress respectfully. This means covering your shoulders and knees; shorts and sleeveless tops are generally not appropriate. It's also customary to remove your shoes before entering certain areas within temples or homes. Always be mindful of your surroundings and avoid loud conversations or disruptive behaviour. Photography is usually permitted, but it's polite to ask permission before taking close-up photos of people, especially monks or elderly individuals.

Safety in Vietnam is generally high, with petty crime being the most common concern for travellers. It's wise to keep your valuables secure, especially in crowded markets and tourist areas, and be aware of your surroundings. For transportation, using reputable taxi companies or ride-sharing apps like Grab is recommended to avoid overcharging. While Gojek is not widely available in Vietnam, Grab operates extensively in major cities and offers a reliable and convenient way to get around. Always ensure your belongings are kept within sight.

In case of emergencies, the general police number in Vietnam is 113. For medical emergencies, dial 115. For travellers from Singapore, the Singapore Embassy in Vietnam is located in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. It's always prudent to have travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and unforeseen circumstances. Ensure your passport has at least six months of validity remaining and consider purchasing a local SIM card upon arrival for easier communication and data access.

Getting to Vietnam and Getting Around

For travellers from Singapore, reaching Vietnam is straightforward, with numerous direct flights available from Changi Airport (SIN) to major Vietnamese cities like Hanoi (HAN) and Ho Chi Minh City (SGN). Airlines such as Singapore Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, and budget carriers like Scoot and VietJet Air operate these routes frequently. Flight durations typically range from 2 to 4 hours, with prices varying based on the season and how far in advance you book flight tickets. This accessibility makes Vietnam an ideal destination for both short breaks and longer holidays.

Once in Vietnam, intercity travel is well-supported by a variety of options. High-speed trains connect major cities along the coast, offering scenic journeys, while domestic flights provide a quicker alternative for longer distances. Buses are also a common and economical choice for travelling between towns and cities. For exploring within cities, ride-sharing apps like Grab are widely available and convenient, alongside traditional taxis and cyclos in some tourist areas. Renting a motorbike is popular among locals and adventurous travellers, but requires caution and appropriate licensing.

The best time to visit Vietnam from Singapore depends on your preferred region and activities. Generally, the dry season from November to April offers pleasant weather across much of the country, though it can be cooler in the north. Spring (February to April) and Autumn (September to November) are often considered ideal, with moderate temperatures and less rainfall. Peak tourist seasons typically align with these periods, potentially leading to higher prices and more crowds, while the shoulder seasons can offer better value and a more relaxed atmosphere.

Before you depart from Singapore, ensure you have your passport with at least six months of validity. The local currency is the Vietnamese Dong (VND). While major currencies like USD are sometimes accepted in tourist areas, it's best to exchange money for VND for daily transactions. Consider purchasing a local SIM card upon arrival for affordable data and calls. Essential apps to download include Grab for transportation and translation apps to aid communication. Having a printed copy of your hotel booking and flight details is also advisable.

Visa Requirements for Singaporean Citizens

Singaporean passport holders enjoy visa-free entry into Vietnam for short stays, making travel planning significantly simpler. Typically, Singapore citizens can enter Vietnam for tourism or business purposes without the need for a pre-arranged visa, provided their stay does not exceed a specified duration, usually around 30 days for a single entry. This visa exemption is a considerable advantage for spontaneous trips or short getaways from Singapore.

When entering Vietnam under the visa exemption, ensure your passport has at least six months of validity beyond your intended stay and that you have proof of onward or return travel, such as a flight ticket. While a visa is not required for these short stays, immigration officers may request to see these documents. It is always recommended to check the latest regulations with the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate in Singapore before your travel, as policies can be subject to change.

For longer stays or different purposes of visit, a visa may be required. This would typically involve applying through the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate in Singapore, or potentially through an e-visa system if available for your specific circumstances. Staying informed about the most current entry requirements is crucial for a smooth travel experience. If your travel plans extend beyond the visa-free period, ensure you have the necessary documentation in order before you book flight tickets.

The hotel is clean. Friendly reception, room price is extremely reasonable compared to room quality. Beautiful modern room. There is a swimming pool on the 8th floor. However, the thing I am most dissatisfied with is the tile floor in the toilet. The hotel chose to line it with regular floor tiles - so when there is water on the floor + wearing hotel slippers is extremely dangerous. My friend and I fell once and almost fell many more times. Hopefully the hotel will use additional floor coverings to reduce this situation. Because Da Nang is quite small, one round trip is enough - so at the hotel's location, it's about 20-25k to grab a motorbike to the center. The hotel rents motorbikes at reasonable prices. Overall 9.5/10 points
