After reading some of the reviews before my trip, I seriously considered canceling my reservation. I’m very glad that I didn’t. The room was exceptionally clean, the linens were spotless, and unlike many hotels, they didn’t have a strong chemical detergent smell. In fact, as soon as I entered the guest room floor, there was a fresh, clean scent throughout the hallway that immediately made a great impression. The front desk staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful throughout my stay. The reception desk is staffed 24/7, and access to the hotel is controlled for guests, which made me feel safe and comfortable. The hotel’s bar and restaurant were also excellent and became one of the highlights of my stay. I think some reviews unfairly criticize the hotel because of Vancouver’s broader homelessness issue. The hotel is about two blocks away from the area people often mention. Walking east, I found plenty of restaurants and places to explore, while Uber and public transit made it easy to reach downtown. This was my first visit to Vancouver, and surprisingly, this hotel and its surroundings were among the few places near downtown where I truly felt secure. The friendly staff, secure access, and welcoming atmosphere all contributed to that feeling. The Hotel at the Waldorf is a historic, charming, and very clean property that offers great value for the price. If I ever return to Vancouver for work or a conference, I would happily stay here again.

We only ever received one washcloth for 2 adults. I was unaware rooms were only upstairs. It definitely was loud. The location….was okay. I should’ve stayed closer to downtown for our cruise.

The room is very outdated. The same goes for the exterior window. Pretty sure it was a single pane glass. Being that its a rougher neighbourhood, it’s very loud, especially when the exterior windows are so outdated. There is also a lot of moisture in the room we were in. The washroom door doesn’t open all the way if the toilet lid is closed. And the front entrance door to the building needs some fine tuning. Overall the building has a lot of neglected maintenance to catch up on.

THE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE!!! STAY AWAY AND NEVER EVEN THINK OF IT. READ OTHER 1-star reviews as well!!! It ruined my initial good impression of Vancouver and B.C. Plus, Expedia must be responsible for listing this dumpster as "hotel" and be absolutely liable for milking its fees from the bookers. It sits on Hastings st., which is only 1.5 km from drug ghetto of Vancouver and you will see same characters walking close the hotel. Next, - what you will see is "Liquor Store" sign on it front. That's why Expedia shows totally doctored interior picture. The so-called "restaurant" is a bar on the first floor which is adjacent to lobby and that's the one all past customers complain about. I could add parking experience as well, but will stop here.

The room was clean, the staff were polite and helpful. But other than that we struggle to find anything positive to say. The outside of the building was shabby and uncared for and certainly not welcoming. The windows are not double glazed so the road noise was exceptionally disturbing and we barely slept at all. Be warned if you walk or catch the bus into town there is a section of both sides of the street that is populated by substance abusers, we did not feel threatened because few could actually move but it made for a distressing and uncomfortable sight and is truly shocking. We had booked for 3 nights but found a different hotel after the first night because we couldn't bear the thought of another disturbed night. When we informed the reception worker he just nodded and smiled, no interest in giving us a room at the back which would've been quieter and no mention of any refund (didn't really expect one, but a small concession would've been appreciated)

Very basic and not in a great area, had to uber to get anywhere as not an area you want to walk from to anywhere you want to go. But staff super friendly and room fine, except the blinds don’t cover the window so light comes in from the street all night.

Don't trust the pictures and reviews on this property. I think AI was used to enhance the look. There was drug interactions and use right outside the premises. The receptionist was very pleasant and could see how horrified we were. We were able to get our money refunded within 48 hours. We found a safe motel closer to the Lion's Gate Hospital and it was safe.

Stayed here from 6/3–6/7. Overall, the stay was decent, and the location is convenient with easy access to downtown by bus and plenty of shops and restaurants nearby on Commercial Drive. The biggest downside is the noise. On Saturday nights, loud music from the underground bar next door can be heard throughout the hotel until 1–2 a.m., and the bass can even make the building vibrate. If you're a light sleeper, this may be a concern. The surrounding area is a bit rough and has a noticeable homeless population, but I didn't experience any issues during my stay.

The property and description on the website do NOT match the property. The air condition doesn’t work properly. The building is old and smelled moldy. The neighborhood that the property is located is surrounded by a highly intensive environment of drug users. If you were planning to walk (any direction) it is NOT advised especially with children. There is NO elevator for anyone that would need physical assistance. There is no concierge service. The staff were friendly.
