For some reason, the whole room was shacking periodically throughout the evening and night. Kept waking me up. And the noise was bad too. Not great.

Breakfast wasnt up to par - coffee was very late (20 mins +), staff dont look to be attentive (cant catch their eye) - we stayed to spoil ourselves for what is a very expensive breakfast in a city with a LOT of choice, e.g. instead of going to a lovely Cafe very close or even weatherspoons (yep I went there!) - wish I hadnt stayed, should have been £5, not a penny more (off the bill!) - weatherspoons would knock spots off this shoddy dry option to be fair. I was not aware until after, that we could effectivly 'complain' (see 'order' - though no idea where this is) and get something 'fresh', like the table next to us. _ Rest of the stay was Fab, but I will not stay for brekkie ever again. I would rather pack rice crispies and eat them raw - it was the only spoiler of our stay.

The hotel is fine for an overnight stay. The rooms are tired and need a refresh. There were lipstick marks on the walls I'm my room and the bathroom sink was very worn and scratched. The bathroom is also very cramped. For the price I expected more. Breakfast was lovely.

Bar food not good and Sauvignon blanc at £12 for 175 ml a very high price. Lounge area low tables, loudish musac, and chairs very heavy to move closer together. Bed comfortable but standard room small with loud old aircon.

Superb. Seamless check-in and out. Spotless room, comfortable bed, powerful shower, nightlite in bathroom. We didn't have breakfast, but ate dinner in the River Grille, and the food was delicious. The service was exemplary also. Only very minor gripe was that they had XO cognac at the bar, and no proper brandy glasses. Barman actually asked if he should put the cognac in my coffee!

Checked in on Friday, and told that there was a half marathon on Sunday which meant we could not use the road from 7.30. That meant for us, really no point staying as would need to leave before that. So we checked out on Saturday - reception seemed to agree this was sensible and no other option. Then they would not agree refund - seems unreasonable to me.

Stayed here last year and had a smaller room but with a view. Nice size bathroom with a lovely walk in shower. Upgraded to a larger room this year at mire cost but extremely dissapointed. Whilst the room was bigger, no view at all and the bathroom was tiny. The toilet was so enclosed that it was difficult to use…and I’m not a big person. And even standing in the bath to have a shower was cramped. The room itself was big enough to modify the bathroom. Apart from that, everything else was very good.
