Not a brilliant stay all round. The room was cold and the heated towel rail was off, so the bathroom was cold too. There is no hot water to have a shower. At breakfast, we asked for a second coffee but none appeared. In actuality, I had asked for breakfast in our room on account of it being our wedding anniversary, but there was no acknowledgement of that at all.

Arrived Christmas Eve 2025 for a two night stay Given room 116 on check in at 3pm room was as expected and left for family meal out at 3.30pm On returning to room that evening could hear a dog yelping whining first thought it may coming from outside During night time sleep and waking in morning could hear dog again Spoke to maid in corridor and she confirmed there was a dog in next room went to reception and they Also confirmed a dog was in Nextdoor room On booking this hotel did not realize that dogs could be staying in hotel Saying how dissatisfied and unhappy with hearing the dog I requested a change of room the response from reception was we are fully booked and that they do allow dogs in rooms Whilst angry and deciding what to do now on Christmas Day of all days to be disappointed with the abode hotel the receptionist found me in lobby and they had an alternative room which was a relief This new room was fine and resolved the issue However it has left a bad impression of the abode in Canterbury

The location, cleanliness

Lovely staff, great location. Room very cold, window rattled a lot which prevented sleeping well.

A little dissappointed with bathroom. needs bath removed & shower cubicle installed & either underfloor heating or warmer floor product. everything else about our stay was really great.

Walls in room were paper thin, could hear next doors snoring and talking. No hot water in shower. Ran out of Gluten Free bread at breakfast.

Such a shame. Lovely hotel in a central location. We had a lovely room on the top floor, but next to the restaurant's induction fan, which meant my wife barely slept all night. We mentioned to reception in the evening. Response was "we've never had complaints with this room before!" Not the attitude you would expect from reception staff. Manager said the induction fan would be switch off at 9.30, but it was on all night. Breakfast was over an hour wait in the morning too - hotel was fully booked and they couldn't cope. Management response to our complaint has been poor. Will prefer the Premier Inn next time - not worth the premium here - especially when you have to pay extra to park your car if you cant get in the tiny car park at the hotel.

Very friendly and helpful staff, good sized room in a great location. Lovely to have all the expected amenities including bath, hairdryer, wifi and tea and coffee. Only two gripes - I struggled to get more than a lukewarm shower, and there quite a lot of noise from within the hotel.

Great location and all staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size and had all the amenities you culd need, including a bath. There was a fair bit of noise from within the hotel, mostly quite a noisy air-con unit and other guests. The only thing that let it down was a shower that struggled to get above lukewarm.

Staff very good but room tired, light in the cupboard hanging off and light over the dressing table not working until I screwed the bulb in properly. Shower was dripping continuously. Breakfast good but the couple we went with forgot to book breakfast when they booked and were told there wasn’t any availability on the Sunday morning so ended up going up the road to a cafe, while we had breakfast in the hotel. Not a good way to start our group day in Canterbury!

Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The room was clean and had everything we needed, the comfort of the bed was exceptional, great nights sleep!! All in all a lovely stay and we would recommend the Abode in Canterbury.

Bed was too soft, bathroom too small for a 4 star hotel. Staff were friendly and check in and out were easy.

Staff were friendly, the room was freezing on arrival, the plug sockets didn't work either side of the bed which was frustrating as like to have phone next to me and charging. Wanted to be able to have a drink in the bar after the panto but no where to sit, breakfast took forever

Whilst the room was clean and tidy, we couldn't get anything other than luke warm water out of the shower. Breakfast was included and we had to chase one of the items, only to be told they'd run out and then a few minutes later it turns up. Would I stay here again, no.
