On arrival we were told we were being upgraded to a ‘privilege’ room. Great I thought. Not so. We walked down and along to a very dark and tired room with no view on the ground floor. Yes, it had robes to wear (short, small and scratchy), yes it had a coffee machine (we don’t drink coffee) and a small fridge. I went back to reception to ask if we could see the original room but were told they were full! The large shower head was dripping water not enough to wash in and the fridge didn’t have any complementary drinks in as we were led to believe. If you don’t mind sharing the very small pool with 15 people and rubbish left around, that’s fine. The setting was fantastic and the price on point. But. We loved the photos on line and that’s not what we got!

The staff are lovely and friendly, but this hotel needs updating, the rooms are really worn, thread bare carpets and very tired bathrooms, no privacy at the windows unless you close the curtains and the lighting in the room was provided by lamps, for a Mercure hotel this is shameful, especially for the price paid, we were disappointed.

Shower mixer in our bathroom did not work. Toilet in Health Spa need a good clean and the hand wash basin had mould

We did not have a particularly good or comfortable stay. I had booked a room with 2 double beds for myself and my fellow traveller. We apparently were upgraded. It was a large room however one bed was a regular bed but the second a Z bed with a metal frame that was not at all comfortable. I did approach reception but they said that all rooms were booked so could not change my room. In addition the majority of electric sockets, of which there were plenty in the room, did not accept standard UK plugs, which caused further frustration. When I complained in the morning the person on reception was very understanding. However, we then found that we had not been checked in properly and so they did not have our details. We could have been offered an extension for plugs but wasn't. Overall a very disappointing stay, the hotel really requires refurbishment. Breakfast was okay but the dining area was not terribly inviting. Much needs to be improved at this property. Suffice to say we will not be returning.

Nice old building. Pretty outside, and indoor rooms quite nice. But generally a bit older in interior, and lacking some things (like air conditioning) that would have been nice.

Great staff and receptionist were very helpful what a beautiful setting with gardens and lake rooms are very tired and dated with no air conditioning spa good and food/drink was nice would return

Clean, all amenities working, delightfully relaxing couple of days away for work in lovely surroundings.

I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable and welcoming this hotel was. Parking was difficult to find during the day but by the evening there were plenty of spaces. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to help me get a travel cot. The bed was comfortable and and curtains near to blackout. Breakfast was nice - and they made me some veggie sausages which were actually good! The swimming pool was lovely and hot, and the spa facilities were clean and we enjoyed our stay. The rooms are dated but clean.

The big room was clean and in good condition. However, the shower did not have sufficient water pressure. Overall it was fine and close to the reception and restaurant/bar. Good parking Super gardens for fresh air.

Place was excellent and staff were so nice and helpful, we had our wedding day on the night before coming and didnt have our phone chargers and we asked reception and got a phone charger to borrow, no extra cost, no time it has to be back so it was great! Breakfast was Amazing, one of the best ive had so cant fault that. Spa area could need some improvement, there was quite a lot of mold around and smelt quite strongly in some areas, also the pool area was supposed to be a relaxing atmosphere with no splashing and no shouting, yet we had at least an hour while we were there with shouting kids, splashing water at eachother and bombs in the pool which is in No Way relaxing. Other than that, great stay and I want to come back again!

I paid a bit extra for the Privilege room and it was well worth it, I had a massive bed, a little table with a couple of armchairs, and a mini-fridge! The bathroom was lovely. unfortunately one of the radiators in my room was stuck on but with the windows open and the fan blowing it was a comfortable temperature. Although the swimming pool had quite a lot of bits floating in it, the Sauna was great and the rest of the spa facilities were brilliant. I had two treatments done during my stay and thoroughly enjoyed both. The breakfast selection was amazing! As well as the usual cooked breakfast items, there were cereals, nuts, seeds and dried fruit, alonf with a choice of bread, crumpets, croissants and pain-o-chocolat, and also a choice of cured meats, salami, fresh fruit and salad! Something for everyone!

Nice setting, comfy well equipped rooms. Spa facilities pretty grim. Food in restaurants basic but acceptable. Service in bar, restaurants, reception challenged by understaffing, which sadly is a sign of the times not a criticism of those working. Overall ok value for money for a business trip.

Everything was fine at the hotel. I was very dissapointed that the Spa wasn't working as that was one of the reasons I chose this hotel.

Been here before and it was wonderful. Went back for a second trip and the spa facilities were closed for the entire week and we weren't notified prior. This was the reason we booked the stay. The food options were limited in both restaurants using the same menu and the rooms were dated and need a little love. Overall, slept well but probably wouldn't stay again.

Stay Wednesday 8th April - Sunday 12th April. Rm 233. Bathroom basin tap very stiff to operate. Either full-on or trickle. Mentioned to Reception twice. Once on Thursday morning and again on Saturday morning. Nothing was done to fix it unfortunately. Cleanliness - I’m sure Housekeeping staff are doing their best but overflow outlet in basin mouldy and slimey. I cleaned it myself. Also all around underside of basin surround. Decor/fittings. Please could there be heated towel rail in bathroom. Bathroom cold and clinical. Would pay extra for this but as single guest I don’t need huge Privilege room. Big room doesn’t enhance my stay. Decor is dull, depressing, tired and shabby and doesn’t co-ordinate. Light fittings in bathroom are rusty. Lighting inadequate, makes room look dingey with the dark walls. Shaving mirror too high for doing make-up. Staff polite but shame that maintenance staff didn’t get to fix tap. I am a regular guest because I like the quiet grounds, and the on-site parking and it’s very near to where my daughter lives but not in city centre.

Stay here often and usually very good. This time, my double room was clearly a twin with the beds pushed together, as one of the headboards was half over the bed and half not and there was a light switch behind our heads and only one bedside table. Despite being told at reception that all facilities were working, the jacuzzi wasn't, nor was the shower by the pool and the steam room broke down on the second day.

Nice room, big bed, good shower except for grip bar sticking into my back! Great staff, nice coffee shop thingy. Not bad!
