Stayed in a Deluxe Double Sea View room. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with beautiful views across the bay, which was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. The room also had a standing fan, which made it a little more comfortable. The staff were polite, friendly, and helpful throughout our visit, making us feel welcome from check-in to check-out. However, I was very disappointed to find that the outdoor swimming pool was out of order. This was one of the main reasons I booked this hotel, and if this had been clearly advertised on the website before booking, I would have chosen to stay elsewhere. I feel guests should be informed in advance when major facilities are unavailable. The spa facilities were good and provided a nice place to relax, although it didn't make up for the disappointment of not being able to use the outdoor pool. Some areas of the hotel are looking quite dated and could benefit from refurbishment. While the building has plenty of character, updating certain parts would really enhance the overall guest experience. Parking is available on site, but is chargeable, which is something to be aware of when booking. It would have been nice if this was included in the room rate. We didn't have breakfast, so can't comment on the food. Overall, we enjoyed our stay thanks to the lovely room, stunning sea views, spa facilities, and the friendly staff. However, the lack of notice about the outdoor pool and additional parking charges was disappointing

A mixed review from me. Parking was £10 a night. Windows were filthy.Swimming pool was closed. Most draught beers were out of stock.The over bath shower had a curtain. No biscuits, only 6 milk sachets and curtain rail not connected at one end. The bed was comfortable with clean sheets. So disappointed overall for a claimed 4star hotel.

Clean room all I would say is don’t judge a book by its cover when you pull up it’s very scruffy on the outside but inside it’s nice could do with updating Good breakfast nice sraff

Beautiful room and views, although our sister in law had to change rooms 4 times due to the state of the room she was given. Breakfast wasn’t worth the price and not happy that the pool was closed. Unfortunately even though the hotel was beautiful, we won’t be staying again due to no pool and the fact next year we’ve been quoted £940 for two nights!!

We had a pleasant stay overall. The location is excellent, with beautiful views and easy access to Torquay. The hotel’s public areas are lovely and full of character, and the breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The staff were also friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Our ground floor room was spacious and comfortable, but it would really benefit from a deep clean. It felt a little tired and musty. One disappointment was that the outdoor swimming pool was out of service. This was one of the main reasons we chose the hotel during the summer, so it was unfortunate not to be able to use it. (we did get an email about it before arriving though) It’s a charming historic hotel in a great location with good service, but some of spaces could do with a little update.

Everywhere very clean and all staff came into contact with were helpful and, more importantly, remembered us from previous stays.

I was delighted with the room which had a beautiful Sea view. We couldn’t use the balcony which was unsafe but that was okay, better to be safe! It was clean and very comfortable. Very friendly staff . The breakfast was fabulous! It was a busy time but although we didn’t get to breakfast until 9am we weren’t kept waiting and the staff did all they could to help us enjoy the plentiful and delicious breakfast selection. I’d definitely recommend and i would stay here again.

Don’t let the exterior of the building put you off. OK, it could do with a lick of paint outside (imagine that will be a costly job) but the interior is lovely with a grand entrance at reception. We paid more for a sea view and balcony and it was worth it for the spectacular views. The room had everything we needed and was much larger than expected. Breakfast was brilliant with loads of choice and all very tasty. The breakfast room also made good use of the views so it made it feel special. The harbour and shops were only a five minute walk down a small hill. We would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay and we would go back. But the yacht club down the road played really loud music until about 10.07pm, Friday and Saturday night !!!! which ruined our relaxing weekend. Which was not the fault of the hotel. Breakfast was good, rooms were dated but clean. The views were excellent. Cold water pressure was low in our room. Enjoyed the pool and the steam room. And we found the staff all polite and very helpful.

This is a delightful hotel, located close to the harbour and sea front amenities. The cliff setting gives outstanding views over Torbay, with panoramic windows in the restaurant and the bar area enhancing the experience. The breakfasts have an enormous choice and the food in the bar and the restaurant is excellent. Despite being an old fashioned English grand hotel, it is modern in all respects, gives excellent service and is competitively priced. Though it is 160 years old, so probably takes a lot of maintenance, everything was good apart from a few creaky floorboards! The indoor swimming pool is very good, with a steam room and jacuzzi to enjoy as well. The outdoor pool was closed for repair. There is garage parking opposite the front entrance; there is also disabled parking alongside the entrance, for which no charge is made. I recommend the Imperial highly for its location, service and competitive prices.

The hotel suite was sadly lacking in design attention and had no air conditioning. It requires full redecorating to match the finery in the public areas. The staff however were excellent- well done all of you. Breakfast was also lovely and plenty of it, staff remained calm and were professional under pressure at busy times.

Had a lovely time staying here. Could do with more seating on the outdoor terrace. We had lovely weather . Room was lovely had an amazing sea view with a lovely balcony

Huge room. Great breakfast. Shame the outdoor pool was out of use and the balcony.

Great location, but the hotel desperately needs updating. The staff were not very welcoming, they looked disinterested and not very helpful. Our room had an unpleasant smell when we walked in. The floorboards in the room above us constantly squeaked when people walked about which disturbed our sleep. The carpet throughout the hotel looked dirty with stains on it, which provided unpleasant and unwelcoming appearance. Garden and the plants were not maintained and looked very unkempt. Breakfast was not fresh. In my opinion, based on my stay, this doesn’t qualify to be a 4 star hotel and was not value for money.

Poorly maintained, good staff, breakfast ok, bedroom and outside space in awful disrepair! Carpets require replacement especially in room 28. It appears no maintenance has been carried out since our last stay in 2024. Smelly hotel, no needs money spent on it desperately, a real disappointment, would not return unfortunately
