Nightcap at Gateway Hotel

Although on a main highway, rooms are situated behind the main building so noise was not a factor. Staff very helpful. Great buffet dinner in the hotel with excellent variety of foods.

Was put into a room, unlocked room to find it hadn’t been cleaned yet. So went back to reception and was given another room. Fan in bathroom was full of dust and cobwebs. Fridge made an annoying noise during the night. Shower had a leak. Bed was firm and pillows were uncomfortable. Didn’t feel cared about. Just a number paying for a room. I’ve stayed in a few nightcap hotels and this has to be the worst one so far. And we stayed 2 nights. I’ve stayed in numerous places and never once had the cleaner come in during the stay. We went out and come back to our towels changed. I felt like what a waste. Seems they go in every room every day no matter what. There was no do not disturb option either.

Great and perfect for trailers

Room was clean. Location was convenient as we had to catch a very early flight the next morning at Avalon airport. The name says "Hotel". It is a more a motel than an hotel. It was fine for our short term needs.

Exelant hotel very friendly staff good restaurant and good food. Would recommend the hotel to anyone.

good room great meals good fair price when others got greedy

A convenient place to stay for a meal, drink and early morning getaway for the Spirit of Tasmania. The room was updated to current standards. The king size bed was comfortable. The extra bed was useful for putting things on. It was quiet overnight. We ate at the ‘all you can eat’ buffet, which had a huge assortment of food. It was reasonably priced for seniors. I didn’t like the noise level. There was music from above added to the cacophony of running and shouting children and parents. People were constantly walking passed our table.

We had the family room with plenty of space and privacy. Friendly staff that makes it even more memorable. Great bistro serving good hearty food.

Updated rooms however the mattress needs to be replaced - not comfortable. Too expensive for 1 night.

Room was nice. Good space. Bathroom had excellent shower. Wifi didn't work. Bed was facing the telly against the wall yet said bed was on wheels making it incredibly difficult to lay back in bed without pushing the bed forwards.
