Hotel Le Germain Calgary

We come to Calgary quite often and often stay at other hotels. I have heard good comments about this hotel for a while, therefore me and my wife decided to give it a try. However, we are a bit disappointed about the condition of the hotel rooms. It looks great on the photos, but the decoration feels a bit dated when see it live and the condition seems to need some maintenance. The shower was nice though, probably best within the room. Valet parking is also good. The staff are very helpful.

Such a wonderful hotel, except the AC in our room did not work and we had complained 3 times, maintenance came and replaced the Thermostat, it still didn't work. Woke up 2 degrees hotter than

Even though it was only an overnight stay, the service was great. They were kind enough to accommodate a late arrival, late check out that was perfect for our flight. Even getting a last minute spa appointment was available. The double room size was fantastic. Only suggestion for a double room, would have 2 coffee cups and more coffee available, but just a personal preference. Highly recommend.

Surface level posh but lacks attention to the details. Considering location it’s fine for the price they charge. It has a veneer that feels like it desperately wants to be a swanky hotel in Asia but is run by North American corporate cheapness. Dim lighting abounds and the polish just isn’t really up to snuff. We booked a queen but the mattress was a double (we measured), and when we told the front desk they just said they can’t upgrade us to a king and then cast doubt on the standardized measurements we were referencing. The staff eventually apologized when we were checking out. The room had lots of cheap plastic switches (lights, toilet flush) that didn’t quite work smoothly and the bathroom doors were all loose. There was a non-functional laptop dock built into the desk and a mysterious Chromecast hiding half-disconnected behind the tv. The eye-wateringly expensive mini bar was stocked to the point that there was no fridge space for anything else. The bed was uncomfortably hard and, as previously mentioned, undersized. The shower plumbing was just loose enough to spray some extra water around while using the hand wand. And for some reason the outlet in the ironing cupboard was behind what seemed like a loosely hinged piece of spare lumber that juts outward a good foot when it’s in use. Overall we probably wouldn’t stay here again.

We just spent a week in a five star resort in Banff Park. We had a one night layover in Calgary and booked the Le Germain. The room was much bigger, newer, and much better appointed. My wife and I agreed it was the best designed hotel room we’ve ever stayed in. The location, around the corner from a pedestrian mall street was great with bars and shops. The restaurant on the property was excellent.

The staff was professional and very accommodating to any requests we had. The room was spacious, clean and exceeded our expectations. We attended the spa for a couples massage and the staff was wonderful and we enjoyed the sitting on the outdoor patio afterwards while enjoying a snack and refreshment. Then we each used the infrared saunas in the change rooms. The valet staff were friendly and the one gentleman was quite entertaining to talk with while he helped us with our luggage! We ordered room service for breakfast and it was promptly delivered and delicious. Overall our stay was a great experience.

Great location. Walkable to visit restaurants and interesting attractions. Hotel restaurant and bar were very good. Staff was excellent.

Room is on the pricier side, but you can feel why. King room was spacious and bathroom elegant/modern. Reminded me of a fancy hotel room in Vegas! Spa couples weekday massage at rnr Wellness (in the hotel), was incredible (Jean). Fitness room was well equipped with beautiful views of the city (especially at night!). Parking is tricky downtown though (hotel is across the street from the Calgary Tower). Might be easier to Valet park (currently $50/day), if you don’t want to navigate through construction and one way streets. Enjoyed our time here! :)

The only fault with our stay is that there was a ton of construction around the hotel, which is not the hotel's fault, but it did hinder our overall experience. But everything else was excellent.

This is really nice hotel with the sort of modern international decor I’ve seen in other cities. I liked it. Everything in the room worked. I’d stay there again.
