Ambleside Salutation Hotel & Spa

Great variety of hot, cooked-to-order breakfasts as well as wide range of continental items, all of which were great quality. We were also offered tea or fresh coffee and fresh juice that was brought to the table, along with toast. Room was comfortable and cosy. We had a balcony room overlooking Ambleside high street. Room was generally clean, just a few attention to details missing such as on the towel radiator. We ate in the restaurant ain’t the evening, enjoyed the food we ordered (main and dessert). We had an Irish coffee in the bar afterwards. Would be nice to have a drinks menu in the bar offering a wider selection/few cocktails as there was only a wine menu. Service was great throughout our stay. We used the pool which was nice, really liked the outdoor spa pool. The steam and sauna were ok but didn’t have very good seals around the door so the didn’t reach the high temperature I’m used to.

Check-in was quick and easy - the lady who checked us in was friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Our room was lovely, with a large and comfortable bed, plenty of cushions, and a peaceful, warm atmosphere. There were also tea-making facilities and a fridge, which was a nice touch. We didn’t get a chance to try the spa or gym facilities this time, but breakfast was excellent - a great variety on offer, quick service, and perfectly cooked scrambled eggs! The hotel’s central location was ideal for exploring Ambleside, with everything just a short walk away.

Best breakfast I ever had in a hotel. Spa lovely (just needs a bar). The standard rooms are small and very warm, I’d upgrade to a bigger one next time.

The staff were absolutely brilliant at their jobs, so friendly and yet professional. The hotel has ample parking, serves a brilliant breakfast and has a great spa. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Lovely breakfast, both cooked and buffet. Service was polite and efficient without feeling rushed. Plenty of room in the dining room and lounges. Our bedrooms were spacious and clean with many sockets, a hot tub and whirlpool bath, full set of Wainwright’s guides, and the fridge was kept stocked with fresh milk (not the usual UHT rubbish), water, tea, coffee and even biscuits. The WiFi was excellent, probably the best hotel WiFi I’ve ever used. I was surprised that such a nice bathroom didn’t have a soft close lid on the wc. We didn’t have dinner in the hotel because the menu options didn’t appeal, especially with young grandchildren visiting us. The main car park can get a bit tight, but they’ve got a couple round the corner which have more room. Most places in the Lake District are easily reachable from Ambleside. The hotel is better inside than it looks on the outside, if a little quirky - we’d definitely choose it again.

Reception staff excellent, great breakfast, restaurant staff most excellent. Nice spa. Great location Evening meal service let down an otherwise excellent stay.

Excellent hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our first stay. I'm sure it won't be our last. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor hydrotherapy pool.

We have stayed at the hotel 3 or 4 times in past and we like the hotel very much but we're very disappointed with room we were allocated. I also thought I had booked it for £233 for that night but it turned out to be £288, alot I money for the facility we got

Fabulous hotel in the middle of Ambleside. Staff were all amazing ... fantastic customer service from everyone we encountered. Room was comfortable, beautifully decorated, and very clean and quiet. Plenty of free parking available on site. Public areas were expansive, relaxing and once again very well presented. We really enjoyed our stay and are already planning a return trip for a longer period. We would absolutely recommend this hotel to all.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Ambleside Salutation Hotel in the Lake District, and I genuinely cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect – the kind of stay that leaves you wanting to come back even before you've checked out! The Location: Absolutely unbeatable. Nestled right in the heart of Ambleside, the hotel is surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Our room overlooked a gorgeous waterfall, and waking up to the soothing sound of flowing water and a view of the hills was pure magic. It felt like a peaceful, luxurious escape wrapped in nature. The Room: Wow – our room was massive! Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and designed for real comfort. It had everything we needed and more. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the little touches made a big difference. Honestly one of the best hotel rooms we’ve stayed in. The Staff: Every single member of staff we encountered was warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. From check-in to check-out, we were made to feel at home and very well looked after. Mitten im Ort gelegen, aber dennoch ruhig. Mit dem kostenlosen Parkplatz hinter dem Hotel hat es auch jeden Abend geklappt, kann aber schon voll werden. Es gibt aber wohl auch noch einen zweiten Parkplatz, den wir aber nicht gebraucht haben. Meiner Frau hat der Pool super gefallen, gepflegt, sauber und ansprechend gestaltet. Der Whirlpool hat uns beiden sehr gut gefallen. Frühstück war sehr gut, das Abendessen im Hotel hatten wir nur einmal genossen. War jetzt nicht schlecht, aber irgendwie fehlte der Pfiff, da sind wir lieber im Ort Essen gegangen und im Zweifelsfalle geht Fish & Chips halt immer. Sehr schönes Zimmer mit uriger Einrichtung, fehlt eigentlich nur noch Sherlock Holmes der einmal vorbeischaut. Wenn es draußen warm wird, dann kann es auch im Zimmer super warm/heiß werden. Dadurch das wir ein Zimmer mit Balkon hatten, konnten wir aber gut durchlüften und so das Zimmer zum Schlafen auf erträgliche Temperaturen bekommen.

The most amazing anniversary stay. We stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is in an amazing location with a lot of hikes nearby. The hotel room we stayed in had a hot tub in and it was lovely to relax. We attended the spa as well which was gorgeous!
