I stay at the Hampton by Hilton Stansted every month now. I travel up for work and usually stay for a week. The rooms are really great – clean, comfortable beds, a good variety of pillows, spotless bathrooms and a smart TV. The restaurant is good too. The menu is simple but tasty, and the food is always cooked well. Breakfast is excellent, with a buffet, waffle machine, porridge, all the usual cooked breakfast options, as well as pastries, fruit and more. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. Parking can be a bit hit and miss. I always manage to get a space, even though I'm in and out every day, but I have occasionally noticed people struggling to find one. The hotel is right next to the train station and the airport, making it a really convenient location. I highly recommend paying a little extra for a runway-view room. The sun sets just beyond the runway and makes for some fantastic photos.

Had a one night stopover and would happily have stayed longer. The room was a modest sized double but very clean and well maintained. Ideal for a short stay. Plenty of toiletries in the bathroom and a bath. Good air con. Welcoming team on the desk and bar when I arrived in the early hours of the morning. The buffet breakfast didn’t have a huge selection of hot stuff (no Tomatoes or mushrooms) was all freshly cooked with good selection of continental items too.

The water in the shower did not run a way properly, there were lipstick marks on the water glasses in the room and the bed linen was dirty. We were also informed by the reception that they had an offer where children ate for free when an adult ordered a meal. How ever the bar staff did not mention that this was only valid if the kids ordered from the kids menue but that menue was hidden in the end of the bar and was only a printed note. The bar staff should have informed me of this when I order as I was specific in my order for the kids.

As soon as we got into our room, it smelled like cigarette. So we reported it to reception who gave us another room with an upgrade. We get into this other room and it smelled like some man's cologne...the bedsheets of one of the beds smelled like vanilla...It was as if the room hadn't been cleaned after the previous guest/s. If that's the case, it's really not ideal for a guest who paid for the room and after a long day of travelling...The bathroom didn't look clean at all, it hadn't been wiped. Breakfast was okay.

Signs from terminal were very small and arrived in dark and could not find our way ..ended up near a railway line and another lost couple and us backtracked only to find a sign stuck behind a metal grill. Not what we needed after flight delayed 2 hours and arriving at midnight. Also hottest day ever in June and our air conditioner would not turn on … reported it twice and on third call it was fixed … very uncomfortable night as you can’t open a window and was east facing so room very hot even at start of the day.
