We were upgraded to the Cuckoo suite which was lovely overlooking the lit gardens. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The Close breakfast menu was also very good with lots of choice, we had Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine which were very nice.

Lovely spacious room with a huge bed. The hotel is right in the middle of town so it's close to everything. Great breakfast in the morning.

Really friendly guy on reception who was great and helped us sort out parking etc. Room was lovely, well furnished and all felt high quality.
The only bit that slightly let things down was breakfast. Although the food was good (when it came), the service wasn’t. No-one gave us menus so we had to ask, then we had to ask to actually order, it was all a bit erratic and the server didn’t really seem to know what they were doing! Also, on a more minor point, the coffee was terrible!
Shame really as everything else about our stay was great!

The room was immaculate, cosy and well laid out- not an easy task as it was at the top of a turret! All the fabrics, cushions and blankets were of an excellent quality.
Staff were outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble. They were friendly without being intrusive and they created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. They are a real asset. Breakfast was excellent - a wide selection at the well stocked buffet and an excellent cooked option too.

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at The Close. We had a lovely room and I don’t think we’ve ever slept in a more comfortable bed! Breakfast was great with lots of choice. The staff were generally good.
Food in the restaurant and drinks were pricey but the quality was good.
